2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz Pick-up Truck unveiled

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz pick-up truck has been globally unveiled. This is the brand's first-ever pick-up truck and is said to go on sale in the US later this year.

Hyundai will soon be making its debut in the pick-up truck segment, with the introduction of the all-new Santa Cruz. The new (2022) Hyundai Santa Cruz pick-up truck is based on the concept that was showcased 6 years back in 2015.

The new Hyundai Santa Cruz pick-up truck seems to be heavily inspired by the latest-generation Tucson SUV. The pick-up truck carries forward a similar front end, especially the front grille with the integrated LED daytime running lights and the main LED headlamp unit positioned below.

The pick-up truck also comes with prominent skid plates at the front, while the sides feature extended wheel arches, housing 20-inch alloys. The black cladding extends all the way to the rear as well, adding a level of ruggedness to its overall appeal.

The interiors of the pick-up come packed with features and equipment. Some of the key features in the cabin include a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (upgradable to 10-inches) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, steering-mounted controls, different driving modes and plenty of other safety equipment.

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz is also said to be based on a monocoque, in place of the ladder-on-frame chassis, which usually underpin pick-up trucks. This is the same platform that also underpins the Tucson. However, unlike the SUV, the Santa Cruz will come with a standard AWD system, instead of the FWD on the Tucson.

The new Hyundai Santa Cruz pick-up is offered with a choice of two engine options. The first is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine producing 190 BHP / 244 Nm, paired with an 8-speed hydraulic automatic transmission. This variant has a towing capacity of 1,588 kg.

There is also another 2.5-litre turbocharged engine churning out a higher 275 BHP / 420 Nm, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This powertrain-equipped variant offers a maximum towing capacity of 2,268 kg.
