2020 Toyota Corolla sedan teased ahead of official debut

Toyota is set to unveil the 2020 Corolla sedan at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China on November 16, 2018. Reports suggest that it could replace the Corolla Altis in India by 2020.

The new Corolla sedan will be based on the TNGA platform shared with the hatchback and estate models that were unveiled earlier this year. The latest teaser image suggests that the styling will also be similar to the 12th-gen Corolla. The car gets a slotted grille with triple-pod headlamps that have three L-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper houses a large trapezoidal grille flanked by LED fog lamp strips.

In the international market, the sedan is likely to get the same engine options as the other two body styles. In India, the Corolla Altis is currently offered with a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 138 BHP and 173 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that puts out 87 BHP and 205 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard, while an optional 7-speed CVT is available with the petrol engine.
