The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been spotted testing under heavy camouflage. Though the overall design language and silhouette of the SUV appears quite similar to that of the current model, Mercedes has given some little tweaks to the proportions of the new G-Class.
The most noticeable change visible in the spy shots is the increased width of the 2018 G-Class. Reports claim that the new G-Class would be around 100 mm wider than the current model. The car will be built on an improved architecture, which will make it around 400 kgs lighter than the model it replaces which hasn't changed for 37 years.
The interiors of the new 2018 G-Class are expected to get a significant overhaul. It will be borrowing the centre console layout and features from the new Mercedes E-Class.
Various reports suggest that the 2018 Mercedes G-Class will be offered in two trim levels: G500 and G63 AMG. While the former will get a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine, the latter is expected to be powered by a tweaked version of the AMG GT's 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo unit.
The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class is expected to go on sale in 2018.
