A Volkswagen Polo GT TDI with red number plates has been spotted, suggesting that the photographed model is a test mule. Though there aren't any visible changes on the outside, the new Polo GT TDI is expected to get the updated 1.5-litre diesel engine that made its debut in the Ameo compact sedan, and was recently introduced in the VW Vento and Skoda Rapid sedans.
The updated 1.5-litre TDI mill features a larger turbocharger, which has boosted its power output to 108 BHP, while the torque rating stays at 250 Nm. In the GT TDI, this diesel engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The German automaker hasn't yet revealed a launch date for the updated Polo GT TDI. However, media reports point towards a launch in early 2017.
