2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift unveiled in Detroit

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the GLA facelift at the ongoing North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The facelifted SUV gets some cosmetic updates on the exteriors and some feature updates on the interiors.

The 2017 Mercedes GLA gets redesigned front bumpers, a tweaked grille with chrome inserts and a new set of alloy wheels. The headlights are now full LED units, instead of the bi-xenon lamps found earlier. It also gets a new colour option - Canyon Beige. The SUV's silhouette and rear remain identical to the earlier model.

On the inside, the GLA facelift comes with a new 8-inch free-standing infotainment system, an updated instrument cluster and few chrome bits added around the cabin. The SUV also gets new seat upholstery.

Mercedes is further offering an optional off-road comfort suspension system with the GLA, which increases its ride height by 30 mm. The SUV also comes with Active Brake Assist function as standard, which alerts the driver about its distance with the vehicle in front, and even automatically applies required braking input in case of an emergency. It also features Attention Assist that senses driver drowsiness and sends appropriate warning signals.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to launch the GLA facelift in India later this year. It will continue to be offered with the same 2.0-litre petrol and 2.1-litre diesel engines that are available with the current model.
