Maruti Suzuki will launch the third-generation Dzire compact sedan in India on May 16, 2017. The company has already unveiled major details about the car. However, a few more specifications, including the new model's fuel economy figures have now been leaked, ahead of the car's official introduction.
We already know that the new Dzire will continue to be offered with the existing set of engines. As a result, the petrol models will come with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-series engine that will likely churn out 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque @ 4,200 rpm. Meanwhile, the diesel variants will be powered by a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder DDiS engine which is expected to be rated at 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across all variants, while an AMT unit will also be on offer from the V-trim onwards, with both petrol and diesel power plants.
As per the surfaced information, the petrol models will deliver a company-claimed fuel economy figure of 22 km/l, for both MT and AMT models, while the diesel engine will be rated at 28.40 km/l.
Maruti has already confirmed that the new Dzire will come with standard safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts on all variants. Additionally, the base (LDi and LXi) trims are expected to be further equipped with rear combination LED lamps, LED high mounted stop lamp, MID with gear shift indicator, front seat belts with pretensioners, front accessory socket, dual tone interiors and tilt adjustment for the steering wheel.
The Dzire will be available in 6 colours - Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Magma Gray, Silky Silver and Arctic White. Maruti will likely be marketing the 2017 Dzire under a new tagline - 'The Authentic Sedan'.
