The 2016 Toyota Fortuner has started reaching dealerships in India, as a black-coloured model was recently snapped at a company dealership in Ahmedabad.

The 2016 Fortuner was first imported into India in October 2015, while it was spotted testing on public roads for the first time in August 2016. The new model features a revised design, and is built on Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA). Exterior design elements include a chrome grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels and redesigned taillights with LED inserts. The side profile gets a prominent kink in the window-line near the C-pillar.

The international-spec 2016 Toyota Fortuner comes with two diesel and one petrol engine options. India will most likely get only the diesel power mills, which are similar to the ones offered with the Innova Crysta. The 2.4-litre diesel engine produces 148 BHP and 400 Nm of torque, while the 2.8-litre unit generates 175 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. Transmission options on offer include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
