2016 Honda Accord might be imported on order only

Honda is gearing up to introduce the 2016 Accord sedan on October 25. The car will be brought into India via the CBU (completely built unit) route. According to media reports, the company is planning to initially import the car only against orders. This step is probably being taken to avoid excess inventory piling up with the company, in case of a lukewarm response.

The 2016 Accord is the ninth-generation model. It was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Honda will most probably be introducing the Accord with a petrol and a hybrid powertrain.

The Accord Hybrid will be powered by a 2.0-litre iVTEC petrol engine, along with two electric motors. This setup will generate a maximum power of 196 BHP and over 300 Nm of torque. The electric motors will be powered by a 1.3 kW lithium-ion battery pack. Meanwhile, the Accord petrol will be equipped with a 2.4-litre engine, rated at 185 BHP.

Honda will be pitting the Accord against the Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb.
