2016 Audi A4 spied with production body

The 2016 Audi A4 (B9) has been on test for a while now. The car-parazzi has caught the new sedan during its test runs on multiple occasions, and the car has now been spied with its production body, during a cold weather test.

The test mule is completely camouflaged, but still gives away a few styling cues. The new headlamps will feature a more sleek design and Audi is expected to offer LED and Matrix laser lights. The tail lights will also be redesigned, while the fenders will be better defined and appear more sculpted to give the car a little aggression. The rear doors also appear larger to facilitate ease of access, the boot will sport an integrated spoiler and the new A4 could feature dual tail pipes as well.

Engine options are expected to include a host of 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre TFSI petrols, along with 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesel engines that will mainly target markets like India and Europe. Diesel intensive markets may see a 3.0-litre diesel V6, while the USA is expected to get a 3.0-litre petrol V6. A plug-in hybrid petrol will also make its way to the variant list.

The new A4 will ride on Audi's MLB Evo platform and incorporate high strength steel and aluminium into its design. Reports suggest that the new car could be lighter by a good 90-100 kgs.

There hasn't been any official confirmation as to when the 2016 A4 will make its debut, but it could bow in at the Frankfurt motor show in September 2015.
