2015 Suzuki Vitara debuts at Paris Motor Show

Japanese carmaker Suzuki has unveiled the 2015 Vitara at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. The car is based on the iV-4 concept that was displayed at the Frankfurt Show last year.

The Vitara is 4175 mm long, 1775 mm wide and 1610 mm high with a wheelbase of 2500 mm. The vehicle rides on 215/55 R17 tyres and has a ground clearance of 185 mm. The car is available in 15 body colours with several two tone combinations. Customers can personalise their cars by choosing various exterior and interior trims.

Two accessory packages are available for on the Vitara:

  • Urban - consisting of chrome plated fog lamp bezels, body-side mouldings and roof spoiler.
  • Rugged - consisting of front and rear skid plates, fog lamp bezels, body-side mouldings and loading edge protection.

The list of equipment includes a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, panoramic sunroof, radar brake support system, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system and adaptive cruise control.

The Vitara is powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine or a 1.6-liter diesel engine. The petrol unit produces a peak power of 118 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 156 Nm @ 4400 rpm, while the diesel churns out 118 bhp @ 3750 rpm and 320 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The diesel gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol uses a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and an ALLGRIP all-wheel drive system is available as an extra paid option.

The new Vitara will go into production Suzuki's Hungary plant in 2015 and then on sale in Europe. It is unclear whether the car will be introduced in India.
