The twelfth generation Toyota Corolla sedan has been unveiled at the 2018 Guangzhou motor show.
The new Corolla sedan is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The model offered in the Chinese market measures 4,640 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,435 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,700 mm. The car has a lower centre of gravity and wider tread than the current models.
In terms of styling, the new Corolla has sweptback headlamps with twin L-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper houses a large trapezoidal grille flanked by C-shaped fog lamp pods. At the rear, the car has wraparound L-shaped tail lights and a new rear bumper with integrated reflectors. The new model comes with black interiors and a new dashboard design featuring a floating touchscreen infotainment system, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with a large MID in the centre. The car has features like Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa connectivity, wireless charging and rear AC vents.
The new Corolla will be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It will also be available with a hybrid powertrain in more than 90 countries.
The car comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense features, which include active safety systems like lane departure assist with active steering, collision avoidance and mitigation, road sign recognition and radar guided cruise control among others.
