Japanese carmaker Toyota has launched the 11th generation Corolla Altis sedan in India at prices starting from Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new Corolla Altis, which made its debut in India at the 2014 Auto Expo, has sharper styling than the outgoing car. The exterior features a new chrome grille, LED headlamps, DRLs, tail lamps and a redesigned rear end. The car is also longer and wider than its predecessor.
The new Altis features a redesigned interior as well. The list of equipment includes push button start/stop, 7-inch touch screen audio system with navigation, rear camera with reverse sensor, 8-way adjustable powered driver seat, reclining rear seats, cruise control and rain sensors. Safety features include dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
The new Altis is offered with a choice of two engines. The first one is a 1798 cc, VVTi petrol engine, producing 140 PS @ 4000 rpm and 173 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 7-speed CVT is available as an option. The second engine on offer is a 1364 cc, D-4D diesel motor, developing 88.4 PS @ 3800 rpm and 205 Nm of torque @ 1800-2800 rpm, coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.
