Tata Zest AMT interior spied

Tata Motors unveiled the Zest compact sedan in February 2014. The company went on to display the car at the 12 th Auto Expo which was held immediately afterwards.

The carmaker indicated on previous occasions that the Zest will be available with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Motoroids has managed to procure interior pictures of the AMT-equipped Zest test mule which was spotted in Pune. The Zest is likely to be the first diesel car in its class to sport an AMT.

The AMT is expected to reduce the stress involved while driving the car since it does not require a clutch pedal to be depressed. Drivers can use the system like a regular automatic or change gears manually in a sequential pattern.

The AMT-equipped Zest will be powered by the familiar 1.3-litre, Quadrajet motor, which produces 90PS @ 4000 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1750-3000 rpm.

The interior of the Zest is loaded with equipment like a touchscreen, which is used to control the AC as well as the multimedia system that has smartphone connectivity, satellite navigation and audio system with auto volume adjust function. There is a new steering wheel, a new dashboard, instrument cluster and rugby shoulder seats.

The Zest is based on the Manza, it has a number of changes to the exterior which can help us distinguish it from the old car. There is a new grille and new projector headlamps at the front. The rear of the car gets forward pointing wrap-around tail lamps. The car rides on 16-inch wheels.
