Rumour: Royal Enfield Himalayan to get fuel injection

Royal Enfield is reportedly planning to launch a fuel-injected version of the Himalayan in India. The motorcycle is already being sold with an FI engine in the UK. Reports suggest that this engine will be introduced in India in May 2017.

In addition to the fuel-injected powerplant, the Himalayan could also be offered with an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The international-spec models are already equipped with ABS and hence, it won't require any additional R&D on the manufacturer's part if it has to introduce the same in the Indian market.

The Himalayan was launched last year in the niche adventure motorcycle segment. It is currently powered by a carburetted 411cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers 24.5 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of torque @ 4,000-4,500 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.
