My 2006 Drammer 935 Classic: Inspecting for potential leaks

I also noticed some water in the engine room bilge. So I used my special little portable pump to pump it out.

BHPian Jeroen recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I have been doing some odd jobs on Sirion. I am very cautious about any potential leaks in the boat. So I regularly pull all the floor boards and inspect the bilges. As you have seen me do before.

The other day I noticed a bit of water in the stern locker.

Lots of stuff piled on top of each other. Everything has to come out, I had to loosen some screws to take out this big wooden cover.

In the end, I could not find any leak or anything amiss. I also keep buckets and various mops and so on here. So maybe it was from a wet mob or piece of cloth I had put away wet. Better safe than sorry!!

With the cover removed, nothing to see

I also noticed some water in the engine room bilge. So I used my special little portable pump to pump it out. I tried the bilge pump, but the level was too low for it to suck properly. Still, managed to extract some 2-3 liters.

I also filled up the hydraulic steering fluid in the rudder system. I noticed it was a little low. I haven't noticed any fluid leaks, but again, better safe than sorry. I had no idea what hydraulic fluid was used before. As it is a Vetus Steering/rudder pump I thought I best used their steering hydraulic fluid.

Also fitted a couple of extra coat hangers.

Last Friday I attended a Raymarine course. The teacher was the same guy as from the radio course. Very interesting, learned lots of stuff.

Today I spent about 4 hours resetting and reprogramming my Raymarine equipment. I wanted to put everything I learned into practice right away!

Some changes in our agenda for next week. Our friend Janet who was coming to stay had to return back to the UK urgently. Very sorry, we had really looked forward to spending a couple of days with her.

But it also means we can now move our Sirion trip up a couple of days. Monday morning we cast off at 07.00 hours. We need to reach the Biesbosch locks well before 09.00 hours. During most weekdays, they have limited operating hours.

I have a nice route planned. Some 150 kilometers in three/four days. two/three nights aboard Sirion!!
