A single unit of the Lexus ES300h sedan has been imported in India for certification purpose. A Zauba search reveals that the ES300h has been brought in from Japan, and was docked at the Ennore port, near Chennai, on 8th June 2016.

The Lexus ES300h is a hybrid car from the automaker's ES range of sedans. It comes equipped with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine with continuously Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). This engine is further accompanied by a high output, permanent magnet, electric drive motor. Cumulatively, the gasoline engine and electric motor are capable of producing 200 BHP. This power is supplied through a CVT gearbox and Lexus claims that this hybrid sedan can do 0 - 96 kph in just 8.1 seconds, before hitting its top speed of 180 kph.

Each of the four wheels of the Lexus ES300h is equipped with power-assisted disc brakes. The braking system also comes with four-channel ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, and a regenerative function. The regenerative braking mechanism recharges batteries by converting the heat generated during braking into electricity.

More details about the Lexus ES300h launch in India aren't certain yet, but speculations suggest that the Japanese luxury car maker might enter the Indian market around August this year.
