Hyundai accepting bookings for Eon 1.0-litre

Last week, we reported that Hyundai Motor India was readying a 1.0-litre version of the Eon hatchback. Going one step further, there are reports that the company's dealerships have started accepting bookings for the car.

The Eon has been endowed with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine, probably one from the European-spec i10 hatchback. It produces 65 bhp and 9.7 kgm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The addition of this engine will allow the Eon to compete with the Chevrolet Spark, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Datsun GO.

The Eon 1.0 is likely to be available in the mid-spec Magna variant only. The list of equipment includes front air-conditioning, power windows, power steering, engine immobiliser, keyless entry and full wheel covers for the 13-inch steel rims. However, an audio system has been left out.

The car has been priced at Rs. 3.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Deliveries are expected to commence next month.
