5-door Maruti Jimny spied in Leh alongside Grand Vitara & Thar

The 5-door Jimny will compete with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in the Indian market.

Maruti is expected to launch the new Jimny in a 5-door guise for the Indian market. The car was spotted testing last month & now, the car has been spotted yet again at Leh.

Also, spotted with the test mule were a Grand Vitara and a Mahindra Thar. It appears that Maruti could be benchmarking the Jimny with the Thar while testing components on the Grand Vitara. Rumours suggest that apart from an extra set of doors, the Jimny could also get a larger touchscreen infotainment system and other minor changes.

The 5-door version of the compact off-roader is expected to debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Jimny is expected to be powered by the K15C 1.5-litre DualJet engine. It’s the next iteration of the K15B petrol motor. The engine is likely to be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel-drive system.

The 5-door Jimny will compete with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in the Indian market. A 3-door version could be launched after gauging the market demand.
