Brought home the Eon Magna + in Sleek Silver Metallic yesterday evening, amidst cloudy skies and after a downpour. It was still drizzling while I drove it into our garage, and Dad performed his usual marathon puja in the garage while the rain poured on.

Car will be primarily used by my wife (sparingly by Dad and me) and will be doing home chores.

I was keen on the i20 but wifey wasn't, as she thought it was too big for her! The Eon fitted her requirements perfectly. Well, as long as she's happy, all well and good.

Now the wait for my City VMT i-DTEC begins.

An update on this:

The dealer has been acting in a very high handed manner after the booking. Even after 10 days, we do not have the VIN of the car. Despite being told very clearly that we need the car before Holi (after which you normally don't buy new vehicles), this guy now seems non-committal.

I have doubts about their after sales too (after looking the way they have behaved) and now we are at a juncture, where it's almost a done deal that we might cancel this.

Checked our earlier option - the Honda Amaze (which is a compromise) and the showroom in Ranchi has 2 variants in stock right now, A Red SX Variant and a White VX (top end) variant. The difference between the two is mostly cosmetic. My parents would be checking the White today, and if they like, would book it for sure.

A touch sad, that the Ford might not be coming home but I do not want my parents to be running after the showroom guys for everything; and looking at the lackluster approach; it seemed a very distinct possibility.

Also have shot off an email to Ford about the whole episode, let's see the response.

Would confirm the booking once done.

OK, Finally, booked the SX Variant of Honda Amaze. Looks as if the Dark Red had more to do with booking the mid variant as the only other choice was a White Amaze, which parents liked but the Red got their nod.

What's included: 4 year's Extended Warranty, Under-body Rust protection, Basic Accessories, 0% Dep Cover, 5K Corporate Discount

Good Deal, believe though the interiors need to be spruced up by adding seat covers (7k), Alloys are expensive (28k), Better Tyres (no idea what to do here, not sure if I can get them replaced straightaway) and finally the Music System, its really basic. Though none of them are a priority.

Liked Honda's idea of putting basic safety features like Airbags and ABS on the mid variant (ABS is on all diesels), gives people a choice of safety by not asking us to pay for the additional accessories.

The delivery is scheduled for the 14th March.

This is pretty usual, particularly in towns where there is only one dealer for a brand. I am sure they have sold the car promised to you to someone else who was in a hurry and they feared they would lose the deal if they didn't give it to him then and there. So they closed the deal with him and thought they can keep you hanging. Probably you behaved in a gentlemanly way with them and they thought you were soft. Good that you taught them a lesson to not take gentlemen for granted.

This has happened with me in the past. It happens particularly with hot selling and high in demand colours.

It is good that you changed your brand decision and went to Honda. Because buying a car is not a one time affair. It's a long relationship. If the beginning is soured like this one can't trust the brand any more.

I am sure the Amaze will amaze your parents and you too.
