Perfectly understandable. Will eagerly wait for your Initial Test Drive and Report.

and that's why I've taken a low-profile car instead of the obvious choices like BMW 520d, Merc E class or Audi A6.
Yes, I get that too.

We have only paid a booking amount of 10k for now. The current offer on the Ertiga is 15k discount and 10k exchange bonus. Since the period till April 15th is considered inauspicious, we will get whatever offers are applicable at the time of full payment.

The on road price without discounts is 10.2L thanks in no good measure to KA's killer road tax.

On another note - What accessories should we bargain for ? I have parking sensors in my mind, any other pointers ?
Hi Tarun,

I'm assuming you are from Bangalore and writing this post. May I know what is the lifetime road tax rate in Bangalore. I see that some dealers are quoting more tax while some are quoting the normal rate. When I calculate the tax rate on the showroom price sometimes the rates do not tally. Could you clear my doubt?

Yeah sure - I'm excited - actually I've to do it for 3 of them now. I've a Cedia Sports, Hyosung GT-650R, and now the s80 3.2 - can you show be a good example of Ownership report, so that I may create one on similar lines?

I'm accustomed to writing bloggish-styled posts like http://coolbikepictures.info/new-2012-suzuki-hayabusa/ and http://www.omthoke.com/the-craving-f...-car-continues

Whenever you have some time in your hand, glance through. Some of them are really good.
And oh, don't forget to read this.

The place is Mysore, but the same taxes prevail throughout Karnataka. The image below will give you the basic tax.

Over this tax there is 10% cess. Thus for the Ertiga, the total tax will be 15.4% !!

What no free insurance? In the current market scenario where sales of most manafacturer is at an all time low, free insurance is a cinch.

Please renegotiate with the dealer to throw in a free insurance.

re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

I hope I will provide a proper ownership report once I get my first car (God-willing), but it's good to get a purchase-related post out there.

Make :
Maruti (No argument there. First choice would always be a Maruti)

Model :
Wagon R (earlier wanted Ritz, but the pedals were too uncomfortable. Swift too expensive and impractical. So downgrade to Wagon R... which is fine. Wish it was just a little wider, though).

Variant :
Vxi - ABS / Airbags (while the dealer said they could have a stock Wagon R delivered within 10 days... the ABS /airbags option was not popular so we would have to wait. In fact dealers tried discouraging us to pursue the ABS option... "You don't really need it", they said. Hmmm).

Fuel :
Petrol (tough choice, hope we don't regret it).

Booking Date :
3 March (evening booking, after several calls and meetings with the dealers).

Color :
Breeze Blue (this was a last minute decision. None of the Maruti Wagon R colours are exciting... so we wanted something that would not stand out too much, and yet had some character. The silver was just too common... and so we opted for the Blue thinking it would be better. Sadly, after seeing 1 or 2 new blue's on road, we already regret the decision, but don't want to delay the delivery any further. It will grow on us, we hope).

Expected Delivery Date : Unclear. First they said one month, then they said 1.5 months, now they say two months. After calling them few days ago, they said end of April ("100%" ) So that's little under two months.

Dealer & City : Mandovi, Bangalore

Freebies :
Only standard ones. I did not even try to negotiate.

Price:
Rs. 563865/- (road tax: Rs. 66693/-) The actual price of the car will reflect the month in which the payment voucher is made. So I don't know if there will be any discounts, or how much. Feel a little disappointed with the price. Wish it was cheaper. But I would say the same thing about the price of rice right now, so let's chalk that to inflation!
