What Car?
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-car/)
I know " no car can be called the safest car , but it is the way you drive that determines your safety"
Still, I would like to get an opinion on which is the car with best safety features in a budget of 10 L. (considering both hatchs and sedans,SUVs up to a 10 L)
Does the presence of airbag bump up the safety rating of a car or is a Palio MultiJet without the Airbag more safer than a city with airbag ?
Civic & Corolla are safest in 10L range.
Yes, airbags increase safety substantially.
No, Palio Multijet is not safer than Honda City.
I believe Civic & Corolla are 10L plus.
Best Safety features would be on Swift ZXi & SX4 ZXi not sure of other cars within 10L with these features.
why not check EuroNCAP ratings of all cars.
TeamBHPians all love their cars to irrationality. Best if you see the ratings there and decide.
i10 sportz - petrol hatch
fabia - petrol/diesel hatch
swift - ZXi
sx4 zxi
best may be optra magnum - oh wait you're in bengaluru - SX4 is the best your money can buy :p
I think the Safari with ABS and Airbags would be the safest option. Is that sub 10 lakh ?
If its a hatchback you can look at Swift ZXi and Fabia( which offers all bells and whistles of a C+ sedan at a PRICE). If its a sedan wait for the New City , Linea, Fiesta SXI( even 1.6 S) . Optra Magnum also would be a good VFM!

Safari with ABS/Airbag,AFAIK is around 11 L ex showroom
How about Aveo 1.6 LT ? Isn't it comparable to Honda City VTEC Plus in terms of safety features ? or is it even better that City ?

Does this really help? The same cars when sold in Europe usually have more than 2 airbags. Euro-spec cars when tested for NCAP crash ratings will definitely fare better than their Indian counterparts.
Try getting a good condition used Elantra Crdi or wait for the launch of new Elantra.
Of all cars i have driven till date I feel Elantra is the best (<10lacs) in terms of safety. Braking is just fantastic and power is relentless as it can get.

From what I have seen, its braking may be good but its tail competes with its nose under hard braking. Not sure why!
For 10 L you get a piece of equipment called Cedia
-Airbags
-ABS with EBD
-Best overall view
-Impeccable suspension.
Case Dismissed ! lol:
Case reopened on insistance of Snaronikar ;-)
Apart form the above cars, you can also consider fiesta 1.6S. It has all the features. Presently they are giving good discounts.
Some points to be considered:
-Seat Belts impart 30 % safety
-Air-bags impart additional 10 % safety (and are deployed only if seat belts are fastened)
-Pedestrian safety is compromised by using bull-bars, etc.
-Use of cellphone while driving is a big hazard next only to drunk driving.
-Children should not be allowed to travel on front seats
-Cars are safe, it's the drivers that make them dangerous ;-)
Safe Cars <10L :
-Swift Zxi (with ABS & Airbags)
-Skoda Fabia (with ABS & Airbags)

I wouldnt have thought the seat belts needs to be fastened for the Airbags to go off. It would defeat the purpose. Airbag should work on crash detection sensors (Please correct me if i am wrong). Where did you get your percentages from? Your saying a car without seat belts is 30% less safe? I would say its a alot more than that. Seat belts save lives - thats why they are standard on cars.
