Re: Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Tata Nexon vs Hyundai Venue vs Kia Sonet vs Others

Voted "Others" as somehow I could not digest the design of the 3X0, call me old school . Just like many I too was keen to see the launch event of the car which happened after much hypes.

I would still prefer the looks of the regular XUV300 over this and would still pickup the Turbo petrol variant if I had to than going for 3X0, although its feature loaded.

Hope Mahindra launches a redesigned variant of this car soon which is a treat to watch.

I completely get what you're saying but apparently the drive modes in the AT are also mapped with the steering dynamics, so there seems to be some weight in their report, if not logical at first glance.
This was also reported to me by a close friend of mine when he recently test drove both the AT and the manual, saying the AT steering somehow felt different from the manual.
Shall have to go and test drive both myself to get to the bottom of the matter, since this is becoming quite an intriguing topic now.

Re: Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Tata Nexon vs Hyundai Venue vs Kia Sonet vs Others

3XO's boot space is not 364 litres, but more like 285 (these numbers are quite close - may not be exact, but can give an idea. The 364 litres looks to be upto the roof. IIRC, the TBHP review also mentions the method used to calculate the 364 litres.

In all dimensions, features and specifications minus the length and the ARAI economy, the 3XO is either at par or better than a Grand Vitara Hybrid (in the next segment)

But the 3XO does cost 6-7 lakh rupees less to compensate for the lower fuel economy.

The 3XO is the widest car in its segment and it also has the longest wheelbase. XUV3OO has been the best of the lot when it comes to accomodating 5 passengers in this segment. The only chink in is armour was the boot space and that has been addressed somewhat with the space saver on the 3XO.

It comes with a full safety suite with 6 Airbags, 5 3-point seat belts and 5 adjustable head restraints as standard. It comes with 3 powerful engines with AT available on both Petrol and Diesel. Most people should be able to find a variant that fits their budget and needs without having to compromise on the basics.

The competition from the Sonet, Venue and especially the Nexon is fierce but the 3XO should be able to hold its own now. The Brezza customer probably wants a Maruti so would probably not be the target audience of someone opting for a 3XO.

To sum it up, my vote would probably go to the 3XO, but then I value horsepower and passenger comfort over a lot of other things. I can choose to carry less stuff but the people in my car need to be comfortable and we need to be able to cover distances fast and safe.

Choosing Between Astor and XUV 3XO for Company Car Lease

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to opt for a company car lease and need some advice on choosing between the MG Astor and the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Here are my thoughts and concerns:

Background : I’m switching ( I do not call it upgrade ☹️) from a Duster and have had to lower my expectations, as I can’t find a duster equivalent within the budget I’ve been given. Max : 9.5lakh Ex-showroom

MG Astor: ( Sales consultant confirmed that he will Match the price by adjusting with some discounts)

Quality & Features: I'm really impressed with the build quality, features, and overall comfort. It is a segment above vehicle, offering great space and comfort.

Concerns: My main concern is the resale value after the 3-year lease period. Astor's sales are currently low, around 1,000 units per month, which might affect its resale value.

Driving Experience : Not very enthusiastic car, there is a lag, power delivery could have been better. But overall felt decent to drive.

Mileage: I'm also curious about the real-world mileage of the Astor as there are many negative reviews.

Mahindra XUV 3XO:

Variant and Budget : I've booked the MX1 variant, even though my budget can stretch to the MX3. I felt the MX3 wasn't a great value for money.

Driving Experience: The engine felt engaging and fun to drive compared to the Astor.

Resale Value: Given its consistent sales of 4-5k units per month, I'm expecting a better resale value after 3 years.

Mileage: Some YouTube reviews suggest the XUV 3XO's mileage isn't that great as well and almost as the Astor's.

Concerns: No clue on the delivery timelines yet, Warranty issues as I have to get an after market fitments like music system, speakers and some other basics.

I'd love to hear your experiences and advice on these two cars, especially regarding:

1. Resale value after 3 years for both cars.
2. Real-world mileage comparisons.
3. Overall satisfaction and any issues you've faced with either vehicle.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Note: Primarily considering SUVs only. Breeza and Sonet was considered and dropped later for budget, safety and cabin space reasons. Wife did not liked the Venue.

Re: Choosing Between Astor and XUV 3XO for Company Car Lease

Consider going for the XUV 3XO. It's the only car that can offer a ride quality and suspension similar to the Duster, matching about 90% of it.

In terms of the engine, the 3XO has a more powerful turbocharged engine compared to the ASTOR 1.5 NA, which may feel sluggish to drive.

The resale value depends directly on the demand of the car. If the new car is selling around 3-4k units per month, then its resale value is likely to be better.

Also, I recommend opting for the Mx3 or Mx3 pro variant. It's always better to go for a higher variant when buying a car.

Best Car Under 12 Lakhs On Road

Hello fellow BHPians,

This is my first thread on the forum, so please excuse me for mistakes while posting. I am looking for a replacement to my Ford Ecosport 2015 Diesel Manual which is now nearing its 10 year end of life in NCR. I have a flexible budget ranging from 8 to 12 lakhs and here are my requirements:

1. Crossover/compact SUV preferred, although not mandatory.
2. Should be safe and solid in build.
3. Should have spacious cabin for 5 average sized adults.
4. Petrol Manual Transmission only and should not be underpowered(explosive performance not needed though)
5. My running is low, only 5000 km/year so fuel efficiency is not high on priority list.
6. Good to have features like sunroof, auto AC are not important for me given the limited budget.
7. Should be very high on VFM quotient.

Phew!! they were many. Now these are some of the cars that I have shortlisted along with the dilemma in each of them.

1. Mahindra XUV 3XO: specifically MX1 or AX5 model - Delivery date uncertainty seems to be an issue.
2. Tata altroz i-turbo XZ variant - The small car feel coming from the Ecosport is not liked by my father.
3. MG Astor base sprint model - Well finished and premium car, but the engine is not even adequate in performance and the AC is not upto the mark.
4. Tata Nexon - Tata has really screwed up the variants and the pricing with the updated Nexon. Can't find any VFM variant within my budget

I wish to seek opinions from the experts and enthusiasts from the forum on what are their opinions in this scenario. Please feel free to add any vehicle that you think I have not mentioned and meet the above requirements well enough.

Thank you!

Which practical-enthusiastic choice to make for city + highway usage?

Looking for a practical yet mildly enthusiastic option to be our first 'new car'

I will start with the previous history of my (short) car ownership experiences so that it will give an idea of what I might and might not tolerate in my next car.

My first ride was a used 2nd Gen Ford Figo 1.2L petrol. Loved the way it handled. It was adequately spacious and my parents felt very comfortable inside the cabin. The AC was great and it had everything a typical indian family needed. But since it was my daily driver, both the performance and the FE of the car were becoming my enemies.

Decided to sell it off and bought a used Terrano 1.5D for practicality, performance and FE. It was a great machine! Solved my purpose well, returned good FE numbers, drove great, offered lots of space. Things were fine untill we started facing issues with the car (due to obvious age-ing reasons) plus we couldn't live with the poor AC (very poor IMO). Decided to sell it looking for an alternative and after 6 months here I am unable to finalize on one car

My Expectations, Confusions and Constraints -
- To start with, budget is a big constraint. The lesser the better. But if there are no options left, can stretch up to 12L to max 13L OTR. Anyway, would be happy if anything that is affordable can satisfy my needs. If it ticks the boxes, why spend extra money.

- Seeing my previous cars, I hope you understand how spoilt I will be. I am looking for good rear seat comfort, good handling (yes I know this has become subjective lately), decently powerful engine, ease of maintenance, reliability and a good FE for city rides.

- I am not after fancy tech features like sun roof, air purifier etc. But I appreciate conveniences like Armrests, headrests, rear ac vents, rear wipers etc. I feel these are good to have features!

My Test drive experiences -

Hyundai i20 - The 1.2L petrol was not exciting at all. Rear seat comfort was compromised. Steering was made to feel like it was a good handling car but it took just a few minutes to realise I didn't like the handling that much. The car can be lived with by all means, but didn't excite me enough to pay 11+ lacs for it.

MG astor - Solid car, Great build, decently spacious, very premium. The base variant for 12L OTR seemed tempting. But woke up my senses to realize it returns a poor FE and is not powerful either.

Fronx 1.2 Delta Plus - I loved the exterior looks of it, but was totally disappointed on seeing the interior. I made up my mind to push interior looks to the least of my priority and took the TD. The car performed adequately well in city rides (I didn't get a chance to rev it hard or to reach higher speeds). Suspension and comfort levels were decent (not the best but definitely not bad). Great FE numbers reminded me of my Terrano Diesel!! It ticked (almost) all boxes and I thought of finalizing the Delta + variant for around 10.7L OTR.

XUV 3XO (the wild card)- Everything was fine untill I saw this bad guy. To start with, the car's performance was amazing (both petrol and diesel). The interiors were great and especially was mighty impressed by space, comfort and the ride quality it offered!! By far the best in this segment. I could get the base-mid spec variants (covered almost all necessary features) for under 11L OTR for the petrol and 12L for the diesel. This felt extremely value for money when compared to Fronx which now feels barebones for almost 11L.

This might seem like an easy decision to make - ditch the fronx and choose the XUV 3XO right? Thats were questions of practicality comes in. The 3XO petrol might not return good FE numbers in city drives (I didn't like the way the 3XO diesel drove. The sudden power rush was not to my liking and I am looking for a silent cabin experience and hence the petrol). Plus, I am worried about the reliability of the 3XO on the long run. It might not be as reliable as an MSuzuki product. Whereas on the ither hand, choosing the fronx will give me good FE numbers for city rides along with peace of mind (cauz it is Suzuki's universal 1.2L). But after knowing what the 3XO offers (features + ride + safety) for that money, fronx seems like it is far from being VFM

Yet to TD the altroz diesel. Despite the car being a great all round product, just reluctant to choose Tata due to all the Quality issues reported by users.

I have not TD'ed other cars cauz I am already confused. I would be happy to even settle for something smaller as long as it ticks my boxes.

Did not TD - Altroz 1.2L petrol (not interested to try the 3 cyl petrol from Tata), Kiger Magnite (I some how feel like they are not of great quality. Plus the 1.0 engine), Baleno Glanza (too boring for my liking. No offense to owners), nexon (hate how it looks) and the list goes on. There are more number of cars that I hate, than the number of cars I like.

But I am open to suggestions that might surprise me!

How should I prioritise my requirements? How am I supposed to approach this car buying process?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Tata Nexon vs Hyundai Venue vs Kia Sonet vs Others

3xO Ax5L / Ax7L trims are the only options for people in the sub 4m category to offer Level 2 ADAS. The ADAS from koreans are Level 1 without adpative cruise control / stop go feature, and as far as I know, camera ONLY based.

Level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, xuv300 being 5 star rated, gives a very high safety rating to this car.
130bhp turbo petrol is powerful than all other cars in the segment. Torquiest pertrol too.

The only down sides are - smaller than average boot, and a very light steering. But in my books, this has got the good bones to be a good touring car.

Re: Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Tata Nexon vs Hyundai Venue vs Kia Sonet vs Others

Hello to all Team BHP enthusiasts.

I have been a passive scroller of the site for quite long but posting here for the first time as I am in a dilemna and could use all the help.

I am in the market for an automatic petrol subcompact suv and have shortlisted Nexon and Venue.

Vehicles rejected - Brezza (dated), Sonet (Unsafe/why not venue), 3XO (long wait/looks not upto my taste), didn't consider Magnite and Kiger.

Requirement - Petrol, Automatic, Usual occupancy 3, at times 5 for shorter runs, Maintenance friendly, will be used relatively less frequently say 100 kms a week with occasional outstation trips.

Venue - Variant S(O) DCT - Has almost everything at a decent price point and the proven reliability of hyundai. The ride is good but over bad roads it does sound a lot.

Nexon - Vatiant Creative+S DCA - Loved the ride quality on this it does have it's shortcomings but a beautifully put together vehicle. Not a fan of the touch buttons on everything though.

Now, Nexon costs about 1.3 L more on-road than the Venue and provides alloys and 360 degree camera while missing out on center armrest, rear charging socket and rear defogger (why TATA). Also, the kid feels the sunroof of nexon opens up more that venue and its a priority for her.

I am okay to ignore the few misses Nexon has at this price point but I am really worried about the TATA ASS which has a bad name in the market.

Please do provide your valuable inputs and anything thay I might not have considered or missed out. Also, I am in Bangalore would love to get dealership recommendations for purchase/service.

Cheers!

I am in similar dilemma too. Choosing a subcompact on a budget. Test drove Fronx, Sonet and Nexon P AT variants. Fronx rejected as the interior looks dated. Not sure about resale values of other two. Sonet remains first choice considering the niggles of Tata after sales.
On another thought also thinking should I go for Sonet top spec or mid spec variant of Seltos, is it worth it? Also waiting for Kylaq

Btw, I settled down for Brezza as the delivery timelines were extended without actual tentative timelines. I suggest to wait for Kylaq, as it looks promising in the sub compact segment plus German quality. Aside, I also personally felt Sonet is well rounded package. Only down side for me was unable to seat 3 otherwise I would have opted Sonet.

XUV 3XO is also moving like a hot cake , I can see good number of 3XO in a small city like Puttur. It might eat the sales of Sonet If M&M makes nice Marketing moves with their Sales Advisors.
