The yellow and white convertible Bug is owned by Mr. Sameer Kadamb.
I also love that car and it really is a stunner.

The Owner seems to be a really enthusiastic person by the way the car is kept. Any more pics of this car ? I would really love to own a car like this.

Re: Carwale vintage and classic car drive - Vashi - Lonavala

This was again a great event, and almost all of us enjoyed the event. Organisation was very good, breakfast for all, cars were nicely lined up. The start was orderly, and we had a good drive. The organisers gave each an envelope with the toll. All were given gifts, oil, memento, calendar, R D Burman DVD or CD, nice thoughtful gesture. At the venue we had a good spread, and good times catching up on the latest gossip amongs the cars guys.
The drive was most enjoyable, I drove the Lancia myself. Since I have a problem, I could not fit in the car comfortably and did the obvious, drove with an open door. It worked, one hand on the steering, the other on the door. Many cars passing pointed to the open door, so I held the door for them to know, that I was aware. Thanks to Rony for the pictures showing how I drove.
On the plain road we drove at a modest speed, but up the ghats we maintained the same speed, the car shot up well. And the weather was excellent cool, so very nice.
At the end of the convoy a tow van and an ambulance with doctors followed, arrangements were perfect.

I was very happy that two of the Vohra brothers were there, I met them after more than 25 years. I learnt a lot from them when I started in this hobby, and we had lots of memories and lots to catch up with. Vohra brothers were like many of todays youngsters, had the vintage car itch (desire to own) and somehow developed it to own cars right from their school and college days.

VCCCI also had its unofficial representative, Mr. Raju, who hopefully will report how much fun all of us had. BTW, I visited the web site of VCCCI and saw that their next event is on Sunday, 11th April 2010. Actually this was a very common topic for discussion, "when will VCCCI hold its next event, and hopefully not in April/May". Now let us see who will hold an event in January.

The event was covered well in the news papers, here is the picture from the Indian Express. Nice and prominent, Shahid Vohra driving his Model A Ford, which is with them since the mid 1970's and has seen good life and use.

On the way back we were overtaken by a big silver box on wheels, Speedy(ing) and overtaking us from the left himself on the extreme left, throwing up gravel in our faces. Now guess who that was!!

When we reached Dukes Retreat, my funny mind came up with a different thought. The toll money was given to us in an envelope, I kept that (no littering for sure) and put the toll slip and Re 1/- change in it. That I gave to Mr. Karani, and requested him to tell me at the end of the day how many returned the change. Guess what, nobody did. On the way back the guy shortchanged me by Re 1/-, so probably this happened to others on the way up. There, an escape route. See, I like to have fun, and sometimes poke it too.

A super event, good fun, and waiting for more.
Thanks also to Kasli for pictures.
We had such fun, and no offence meant to anyone.

Cheers harit

Re: Carwale vintage and classic car drive - Vashi - Lonavala

Hmmm... judging by the last thread on this kind of run this time last year, some of the better cars are missing.

Good to see a new Rolls amongst the bunch (looks in good shape) but sad not see Mallya's outstanding Alvis, the beautiful Flaminia Zagato (these two cars were my favourites) or the superbly restored MG (can't recall if TD or TC).

It's a pity that the "top" cars don't make it out to these events. Then again, there is a lot to be said to see all the cars that were out there participating.

Where were the working cars from the top ten cars in India thread (not just those in the top ten). How many of those are working - some were restored, almost done?

There really should be an event where all the best cars get together and run instead of just sitting around at something like Cartier (which certainly has it's own merits).

I run my cars vintage and classic, so speaking as a doer as opposed to being merely negative.

I love it too Harit. The wheels look amazing at that speed, a moment of pure magic. Look at your hair sweeping back in the wind! Any idea what would be the speed?

Hey Faster789, have followed your posts and can infer you have some very good cars. Did you participate? If not, why are you not walking your talk and participate too? I am sure people will love to meet you and see your cars. People like me from Bangalore will at least get to see the pictures

Cheers

Re: Carwale vintage and classic car drive - Vashi - Lonavala

is the Silver Ghost and Packard 34 below your standards then i think something is wrong in the judgement of Better cars. The event as you can see is for enthusiasts which I am sure you are also so lets not make flat comments without base. A list I shall get and try and put up for you to see the variety which were there. And I really want to know what is " TOP " cars.

Cheers:
