It was almost as if a family member passed away for every Indian - so revered was he then.

Lovely, thanks for sharing. I remember this Poona. And, she was calm and tranquil till the late 70s, in fact to a relative extent even till the early 80s.

Leyland - Austin, very interesting. It seems Ashok was able to persue a commercial tie-up, Bilra did not allow Austin cars into India and tr=hey were already dabbling with Morris:uncontrol
