The scale models posted below are more than 40 Years old (except for the Large SSK) . so please: consider them as Memorabilla worthy of this thread.

The DINKYS have never been removed from thier pegs, some areas of the rubber tyre have disintigrated into powder (see Caddy ,Volvo & E-Type),

I have to import tyres for my scale models too:Frustrati.









Fortunately the tyre on my next set of models are still good.

Please try and Identify these vintage models!

Awesome collection of Vintage related memorabilia invinci. And those period scale models are just priceless. They are truly very rare. BTW didn't you jacked up all the cars before they were parked for 40 yrs.lol:. Just joking, but the thing that truly amazes me is that you are actually importing the tyres of these scale models.

No Big Deal! you can get few dozen tyres for few dollars & shipping is next to nothing! but I do get jitters when i think of importing a set of white walls for my real cars.

Hi Buddy can you share with us the source for importing these Dinky tyres I too have about 200 Dinky and Matchbox cars more than 35 yrs old which i would like to replace the tires.

This link is for the dinky tyres, You may also get it in assorted sizes.

To get tyre for Matchbox model is not easy, they dont disintegrate easily so i guess the dont manufacture replacement. Maybe you can try installing Dinky tyre on Matchbox models.

I collect old wrist watches, pocket watches, clocks etc. During the quest to add to the collection I happened to acquire a Smiths 7 days winding Clock for Automobiles. Sadly, someone had removed the swivel base/mount of this clock and had mounted it onto a metal plate to make it a time piece on a table.
I am posting a pic of the same.

Here's 1 of 3 AA badges I have, all bought from ebay at a good bargain!

This is in the best condition among the 3, to go on my '64 Herald.

I did not know that Sleeman lights were kept at doors of houses, learnt something new. Bit I am sure that a candle lamp was not used on automobiles, does someone know some more? But nice memorabilia.

The tyre pressure gauge is very neat.

The "carriage" clock is an ANSONIA, an American company whose products along with another company Seth Thomas were very popular in India mainly for wall clocks. But not a real carriage clock, those should mostly be French.
Most of the emblems and horn buttons are Chrysler products, but the Willys one is also great. I particulaly noticed one emblem, 3=6, that should be from a DKW, perhaps from a Goa car? The leaping mascot with the spear and red end must surely be deshi, but good to keep.

The Dinky and Matchbox-Lesley Yesteryear models were toys I played with in the 1960's, have still kept some, must pull them out. I have somewhere a Ferrari P5, superb toy, very smooth and having gullwing type doors.
These Vintage models are great memorabilia, one should try to get the whole set. These came in individual boxes, and also in sets of multiple models. If I am not mistaken, the name of the make should be visible at the bottom. These models here are from the earlier series, later on they were fitted with these stupid and ugly "hot wheels", totally spoiling the effect.
From memory and looking at these pictures, I would say that Nr 1 is a RR Silver Ghost, 3 is also a Rolls Ghost, 4 is a Peugeot, 5 maybe a Stutz? 6 was a French Landaulette, maybe a Panhard, it is missing its front seat inserts. I do have some of these, safely packed away, but where are they now? Nr. 2 beats me, but must be American, a hint of Packard?

This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting an ex Himalyan rally driver from Pune who runs a well known driving school. His family has a 1959 Amby OHV with semaphore indicators for decades, and in their office this painting of the car was proudly displayed. The board is a good 6 ft by 10 ft. Note the period accessory trims, mirrors and lights. In its day this must have been the coolest Amby around.

A lot of Automobile Memorabilia comes in the form of stationery like letters, letterheads, envelopes, brochures etc. Shall post some soon. But one can collect current memorabilia, letters sent to you today which after a few years will be worth having. For example, this letter concerning the TATA NANO. It was a sensation, it was booked for years to come, now it is available immediately and to all.
See, memorabilia need not be old stuff!

Recently I aquired a sales brochure for a RR P II. It is very interesting, there are about 8 lithographic prints of the car in various body styles.
One page had the format of the guarantee certificate which every Rolls owner must have received. We could make replicas for the files of current owners of such cars. It is NOT P II specific.
In this catalogue there was also a flyer for India, giving details of Indian RR shops. It was printed at the Times Of India press, being India specific attracted me to this. The main brochure is the international edition.

As mentioned somewhere earlier, stationery also makes nice memorabilia.
Here is an envelope sent by Automobiles Donnet of France. They were a smaller French car manufacturer, and lasted till the beginning of the 1930's. There are still some survivors in the world, but none known in India.

Whether any Donnet cars came to India, or whether this was exploratory correspondence is not clear. The envelope had no contents. R. Pratt Ltd may have been a Standard cars dealer in Bombay. Noteworthy is the stamp "EXPORT" on the envelope.

The envelope has been franked by a machine in 1926!! In a colour scan the franking would have appeared in red.

I recently got a set of original keys from a President, still on the original keychain provided by Starline Motors. Starline Motors also built the 'Safari' stationwagon Premiers.

It must have come with a Fiat station wagon, The Starline Motors Manufacturing unit is situated in Belgaum, approximately 2 Kms from my home. They make BEST Buses and specialised coach works now.
