Thanks guys,

The color sprayed is Dupont GUIDE COAT.. This brings out all the blemishes in the base work done so far. So if there are any irregularities in the paint prepping it shows instantly. Yes, there are quite a few places which is showing up a bit of shading. they will be worked on during the last stages of paint, and only after it comes back from the mechanic's house. And by no means this is the proposed shade for the car

The final color might be off-white or the Original Peacock Green -Blue sort of shade.

Anna, was waiting for this update, She is looking awesome..
Off White or even Ferrari Red will look awesome on it and make the car look Hot Rod. I think the Peacock Green will sober down the Car.. Just my perception.

Chetan..! For the Topolino HotRod, you have to wait for the next year

Well. This car will be 100% ORIGINAL after the Re-Build.

This is quite a bold project considering the fragile engine these cars have. There is always a temptation to Rod these cars are parts are not easily accessible. It will be nice to have this car fully restored and the experience would have surely added a few grey hairs.

Cheers

re: Pilots & his 1950 Mouse Restoration - Fiat Topolino Delivered

Just stumbled upon this thread a couple of days ago. I know virtually nothing about the technicalities of car restoration but nonetheless this is a fantastic read. The way that you have kept everyone updated on the step by step processes that you have followed is highly commendable. Am eagerly awaiting the final results of this restoration project. Maybe someday I too will be able to see the fully restored car in its full glory in Blore.

re: Pilots & his 1950 Mouse Restoration - Fiat Topolino Delivered

Things progressed well after the first of the final coat of surfacer was sprayed.

The next aim was to get this fellow run well, and mechanically TIGHT.

So off it went on a looong towing ride with the help of my humble M-800, infact drawing a lot of attention

even though you did not accept my Friends Request on FB, i watched all the Videos and updates all this while.

And loved the Blue colour spared on the Bonnet of the Fiat.

Welcome back. Hope the 2mm gap of the coupler has been sorted out.

re: Pilots & his 1950 Mouse Restoration - Fiat Topolino Delivered

Well, over the last 1 month, we drove the Topolino for over 200 kms and the car behaved super cool.

But funnily we had a mis-hap recently, Joy came over to have a look at the car, and i offered to drive him around, he was skeptical at first, but i took out the car, we went around a small drive, everything went well, BUT right at the Workshop gates, the car broke down, The car is idling and starting, but not moving further.

Sadly the joint coupler gave way, and this was expected since i knew this needed replacement.

Got one from the local shops that belongs to Premier Padmini, though it can be fitted, my mechanic was not iterested, as it had a 2mm gap. He's presently fabricating one himself with a used TRUCK TYRE.

In the meanwhile, i wrote to Topolino site in Switzerland and got the ORIGINAL Paint Code for this Chassis Number, The color was a peculiar one, had too many shades of Green, but looked Blue.

The actual process was to have the base as Dark Blue and paint the actual shade over it to get the EXACT result.

Have a look at the bonnet, its looking a bit Greenish for a simple reason that its painted on a white surfacer. We will rectify that once we are painting the car.

Hi Kadam I quite like this color. Was there a color code somewhere on the car? Do tell us more. Also what is the name of this color? Beautiful color. I see the car is coming up nicely.

Hi Mole

The actual shade of the car is C489 - BLUE, (as per the original Topolino Company code.)

The car is now ready for paint, but there is the Hillman which needs immediate attention so this is bit delayed. But Before Jan 10th 2012 , the topolino will stand painted.
