Here are a few old photographs of a bike like yours that a gentleman had, years ago and used to ride it around town

Cheers harit
Harit do you remember what was the colour fo this bike you saw in chor bazaar in the 80's (Early middle or late 80's) ? Did it also have a sidecar attached.

About the same time I ad seen a complete engine lying on top of Nasikwalla's table. I was told that it belonged to a firend or some thing who had put a diesel engine into his R12. Do you know of this one?

Cheers!

Harit
I missed out that you saw it with the sidecar
This is interesting. However also strange that someone should sell a treasure to Chor Bazaar. I would love to know the initial route after chor bazaar. Had I seen this at that time I would have bought it. What I later saw was an engine of another R12 on Nasikwallas table. I asked him about it a few years ago and he told me it was a friends. maybe it is possible to find the owner of this green bike to learn about the history.

re: BMW Classic Motorcycles

Here is an early BMW single that attended a two-wheeler-only rally in 2002 in Pune (a great event). I think the owner is a forum member.

Also at the same event was this later single. I haven't seen it since.

A 1941 750 cc sidevalve BMW R12 sidecar combination auctioned by Indian Army in late 60's previously used by Portuguese army in Goa before the liberation for daily patrol from Panjim to Aguada jail.

Wasifbhai, woudn't you say better the bike in this condition than out of the country or chopped by the breakers? Anyway looks kinda worse cos of the front wheel. That's of another bike... this one's are much better and I got brand new MRF tyres for them too

to a certain extent I would agree with you but why keep such a magnificient bike in such a condition.

It would be great to clean it up, fix the mechanicals, if they need attention and drive it once a week, ket the cosmetics be as is !

When was the last time it was driven ?

Does it have a reverse gear ? There was one similar bike in Hyd designed for a sidecar which had a reverse gear

Re: BMW Classic Motorcycles

Hi Guys, I just happened onto this thread and I'd like to share a pic of my 1956 R25/3. She's a runner but needs some TLC. I'm in the process of sourcing the bits and pieces that are missing. I've a rear seat but am on the look out for a riders seat. It's all out there somewhere, I am sure and it's only a matter of time before it all comes together, until then I'm just enjoying the ride and working on getting myself a twin (but more of that later)!
