My grandmother always told me of a photo that hung there showing a car similar to mine, so the last time I was there I had to check it out. Here it is Paradise hotel back in the day with a Standard 10 (sagging in the front just like mine!) passing by, and stealing focus might I add.
Wow, lovely photo Karl!! And of apna Hyderabad (although technically Secunderabad- yes thats where Paradise is.)
Wow, I'd been to Paradise just once to have a biryani (only time in my life Ive eaten it so far!) but never did my eyes catch this photo! You sure have eagle eyes behind those glasses, Karl!
I wonder if this car still exists though.....hmm, who knows, one of these days I may get to find out!

No I saw this same picture in the beautiful Porbander Palace, hence I know its origin. I did see one other picture of this car but the person with the picture didn't let me take a photo of it.

Happily and sadly the car survives but in a totally dismantled state. It would be a miracle if I can convince the owner to part with it as I doubt he has the resources to complete the car. Its one of those long long term projects to try and buy this car

Wow fantastic. Please consider having them all scanned in high resolution for protection and reference. Any more interesting pictures? If you have more of the Porbander royals pics do please share if possible. Apart from the main palace the family retains a spectacular hideaway in the hills, I think its called Khambala or something like that. Its an extremely stylish low slung art deco home on a hillside overlooking a lake. It felt like heaven as I spent an evening there a few years back sipping tea on the terrace watching the hills dotting the lake, listening to peacock calls.

PS The one with HH Alwar has your great grandfather too right? That looks like somewhere in Europe? Which state does your family hail from? (if I may ask)

I meant erstwhile state, Alwar or Porbander or some other, now referred to as districts?

This precious human being had challenges, I hope he survived, he would have had a Mother and Father, Brothers and Sisters, Uncles and Aunts, I hope they loved him and cared for him as best as they could.
