Really awesome! What well-preserved photos! 'especially loved that Herald! 'looks like it had a hit from some other vehicle on the front, but the dents on the bumper and bonnet still havent marred its looks!

Well, re 1072, he is probably right, but the lady in 1029 is too tall and slim for Nalini Jayawant.

Post 1037. The lady is Madhubala, but the gent is NOT Jaikishan. He remains unidentified.
Someone from his family recognized him as the late Jaikishan. Then again i cant say.

Post 1041. Correctly identified as Shammi. According to him, she was a Parsi lady.
Shammi was/is a Muslim lady.

That picture of the telephone float is truly amazing. Hard to believe these things happening in the 30s. I wonder if any of Bombay's historians would know about events like these.

I believe she was Nargis Rabadi a.k.a Shammi, a Parsi lady. Her sister was Mani Rabadi, also in the film line.

In conversation with Nargish Rabadi a.k.a Shammi | Parsi Khabar

It is a repost, and she survives as WBA 7266 in Calcutta and is a regular at the rallies.

The AC was a car similar to the Citroen 1919, similar concept and looking alike.
This AC also suffered a lot, wheels changed because tyres were probably not available, too many accessories added, but the body too is very battered. But the owner has a lovely car, maybe one day she will be brought back nearer to original.

Agspins, that is a nice picture. have a lot of pictures of Bombay, and in many of these pics there is a description in white, just like yours. Wonder if these were commercial pictures?

Cheers harit

Oooops!1 Knew her to be Nargis and presumed she was Muslim. Was she ever married to a Muslim gent then? Maybe not. I stand corrected sir and wish all of you a Happy Nawroz

The pic of the AC looks so different now. As Harit pointed out, bad panel workmanship and i would guess. Now that the owner knows what she looked like earlier, hope he will restore her previous regal looks....and loose the searchlight thingamajig. I tell you next they'll be putting a sextant on a vintage/veteran car just because it looks dated.

Toi-21/03/10

The following picture appeared on TOI this sunday on its article on the G K Vale & Co who completed 100 years in the photo business.

Can anyone identify the car and its probable year? Looks like a high end car going by the trims.

I wish,
I wish,
I wish,
I wish, if I could go back to the below era for sometime I would steal, buy some of the beauties for me.

Sometimes back I dreamt of discovering a huge stock of vintage/classic in middle of a desert. The same dream reoccures to me. Have I reached the pinnacle of madness! and next level may be mental asylum is what my amma says!
