In the days when vintage car rallies used to be conducted in the Parade Ground this car used to turn up.

The car in the picture appears to be the same car.

Many many years later I saw the same car in Rashid bhai's collection where I suspect it should still remain. Chances are the car which was in Chennai and now Mumbai is another similar car?

Hi,

this is a very nice photo as it shows the ghat road of yesteryears.

Wish I had some more pictures of my father's cars.

Fiat Millecento of Col. Gopinath's father. His father was in Army. Picture taken in 1957. He still has this car and is member of Fiat 1100 Club Bangalore. In the other pic is his mother. Which car is it?

The car is a Ford Prefect. Can you post a bigger picture of the Fiat? And the car currently too.

I googled Bankipore, here is what it said in Wikipedia:

"Until the early twentieth century, Bankipore (or Bankipur) was the administrative centre of the Patna Division of Bihar, which came under the rule of the East India Company following the battle of Buxar in 1764. Bankipore lies along an east-west axis on the south bank of the Ganga, some four kilometers west from the medieval Patna City, or Azimabad."

Look at the monogram on the panel between the doors. Some sort of insignia. Was this a Royal car?
I feel that this sort of number plate may have been trade plates, have seen similar in Calcutta when they had the 5 digit system.

Cheers harit

Love that Prefect, Do you have more pictures from him??

@ Karl : The millicento is having the original first Insurance reciept and also has the functioning pull starter. Pictures are in the Bangalore Fiat 1100 club thread.

Hi!
Have a look at

Tell A Friend about: The Weinstube Mystery (UPDATE II: Ford Model T and about Adolph Woermann) - PreWarCar.com

This photo came in a lot taken from a Parsi family album, taken probably during their trip to Vienna, Austria. They were very metriculate and gave a bit on info on each photo.

Cheers harit

Was this Chapel Road ? My grandfather parked most of his cars there. The Sunbeam Talbot was always parked at our other house - Chirag Ali , and later at HPS, Begumpet , where my aunt stayed.

Wbd8775

Hi,
Finally managed to dig up a photo of WBD8775 , The car was bought new by my late grandpa . sorry about the quality of the pic, used my phone camera (scanner is busted)
The pic is not dated but i am sure this would be 1975 as it is my dad's wedding procession.

When the scanner is up and about again, do post a clearer pic for our viewing pleasure.

Recently at a Taj Hotel I came across a book titled " The Splendour that is The Taj". Nice historical book. In that I found this picture which is attached. A 1954 Dodge sedan. The face on the left is that of Queen Elisabeth.
