Absolutely right Sir Karl, thats one of the ways to differentiate between them but what i meant is that, I could not say for sure if it were a Mercury or a Special as i thought the pic was a bit of a haze. But you my dear one, are a young lad with great eyesight unlike myself. Never doubted you for a minute.

Nostalgic harit, BTW this area still looks almost the same after so many years the only change is the cars on the road.

This is a lovely pic. Can you please tell us where you got it from? And where is this racecourse? And do you have more such pictures?
Please take a magnifying glass and try to figure out some registration numbers.

Its a picture of the annual or bi-annual horse racing event held in Ooty which apparently drew people from all over, the year wasn't mentioned. Got it from this place where we stayed at in Ooty. Premium Club I guess, this picture is one of the dozen pictures of pre-independence Ooty there. The chap even offered to take in into the open, but it was raining the next day. I have he description of the pic to but again, thats a RAW file. adobe isn't reading it. Will post a better picture soon. this is the only pic.
Registration numbers are not legible, I wish they were!

Adobe Photoshop recognises .*raw files of certain makes.
Can you post the picture by scanning it at highest quality and attach it as a zip/rar file here?

Wow what a picture. Having heard from erstwhile nobility that a whole load of them used to gather in Ooty for the races one can imagine the excitement. Just look at all those fab cars. Considering this was and still is the passtime of the very rich I'd warrant a guess that most cars there in the picture were special luxury brands.

Thanks for sharing
