Aside, anyone notice the car in the background in this pic., ME?O 333? Looks unfamiliar- some sort of custom-built body perhaps?

Shyam,

This Car?

If so this is the Gondal Special of Maharajkumar Ganadityasinh Jadeja on the Sholavaram Track. Last it was raced in 1981 at Sholavaram, I think. If I remember right its a Formula 5000 TS11

He bought it in 1977 or so from UK, one of the cars built by the great racer John Surtees himself. In his last outing at Sholavaram, he piped Mr Mallaya for the title.

That is a Scootacar - the short lived Indian built version of the Fuldamobil. Stay tuned for more next week :D

Thanks Rehan. Who was driving it on the "speed run" ? Maharaj Kumar Ganadityasinh Jadeja or Himashu Jadeja ?

Met Mr. Himashu Jadeja at BIC when he had come to accept felicitations on behalf of Late "Race Driver" when the "Legends of Indian Motorsport" were felicitated during 1st Tata Truck Racing Championships in 2014.

I was not in town during the 2006 Speed Run. The timing sheets lead me to believe it would probably be the latter.
