A Landmaster?
A Standard 10 to the left, and a Fiat 1100 behind the people. This 2 tone color scheme was very popular with Standard 10s. As Stanher would confirm.

Actually- Shyam had one in the very same colour.

The other car is a PP. And strangely- The bus is Hyderabad registered- The very place Stanher is located in!

All hail Stanher!

Precisely the reason why I placed the smiley after my statement.

Technically, twas a Standard Pennant. And yes, I had one in the same colour combo.
The bus number is not of Hyderabad though, but Chitoor district, AP.

Yep. That's my uncle's PP. Here's one more pic where a bit of our PP is visible.

Are the tail lamps stock? I felt they are Ambassador-ish.

Hi.

Those tail-lamps aren't Ambassador-ish. They are Ambassador units.

Nagpur has always held a special place in my heart. I just love that quaint little place. My Grandfather used to be the Controller-General of the Indian Bureau of Mines, having retired from that position in the late 'Nineties.

The H.Q of IBM (Indian Bureau of Mines, not International Business Machines- lol), was located in Civil Lines, Nagpur. It was here, that my grandfather's official vehicle- A 1963 Willys CJ3B LHD 4WD, powered by the legendary F-134 'Hurricane' was registered. This sort of a vehicle is indeed, Behram's favorite.

This pic dates to about 1966- Nearly 49 years old. My grandfather was a different person back then, having graduated from ISM Dhanbad, and then on, the Colorado School of Mines. They say he used to wear Ray-Ban WayFarer's (or is it Aviators?), in India, back in the 'Swinging Sixties.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to thee, the legendary MHN 2191. This pic was clicked by my grandfather, with his Agfa Click-3.

I've cropped out a part of the pic- Better pics coming soon. Oh yeah- The Neon is inspired by Harit.

This pic wasn't taken in nagpur. Far from it. By 1966/67, the vehicle was already in North India. It was taken in either:

A}Patna University Campus

B}Jammu. My grandfather's colonial era bungalow's address was 420, Gandhinagar, Jammu. Perhaps over there.

C}Somewhere in the plains of the Punjab.

"This BMW R25/3 owned by a family of bikers from Coorg is one of the most iconic BMWs in India.

It was ridden by Codanda Nanjappa Jairam, all the way from Germany in the 1960′s on his trip home after college.

After his graduation, he was backpacking through Europe on his way home, when he decided to buy a motorcycle and travel back to India.

And so he bought a second hand BMW R/25 and rode back via Turkey, Iran, Pakistan to India – back to his home at Boikeri, Madikeri, Kodagu District.

To commemorate the 60th birthday of the bike, Jairam's daughter Sangeetha, a biker herself, decided to celebrate by giving it a complete restoration. Jairam who*passed away in 1998 would have been proud of her daughter had he been alive to see his bike in the mint condition it is in now.

Sangeetha told coorgnews.in news portal:
"I got the bike completely restored, in memory of my father, mother and my family, who all grew up on this motorcycle – as it was an integral part of our family. Till the last days of his life, he always used his motorcycle as his daily commute vehicle, come rain or shine. Since 2014 saw the 60th birth anniversary for his motorcycle, I wrote to BMW in Germany and ordered all the parts for this bike – (as this model is a classic bike) and got a friend in Mumbai to do the restoration. So all parts used on the bike are original BMW parts, the whole process took about one and half years to complete. The bike still bears the original registration of MYZ 984."

Jairam was an avid HAM radio operator and a motor and electronics enthusiast even though he never had any formal education in engineering. He built a go-kart in the early 70s, using a 100cc Lambretta engine and he dabbled with remote control planes and the like. He also participated in the K1000 rally in the year 1978 and 1979."

In Coorg, he was known as Jerry. Even I have seen him riding this bike in my home town of Suntikoppa, close to Boikeri. The bike is in great condition.

His daughter Sangeeta keeps the biking tradition live and uses a Duke as her daily ride.

Cheers

'Found this lovely pic of a Gazel online.

I found this possibly 60s pic of my grandfather and his brother-in-law, snapped in front of our old home at Kumara Park, Bangalore. The car in the backdrop must be a Mark 2. My mother remembers the number as '8182' but, unfortunately, doesn't remember the series.
