Could be a Daimler. Looks like the fluted Daimler radiator. Then again, it could just be reflections.

A photograph taken in October 72 of my Father, his Sister and my Grandparents.
Registrations are BMC7398 for the Dodge and BYH2348 for the Hillman.

These were taken at their farm with a visitor.

im not certain, but i think this pic is from his visit to manchester, and the car he used if i recall right may be a GUY. GUY motors usually made trucks and buses but did make a few cars too.

I have no idea if this pic has been posted before. This picture is of Nagpada junction ( junna khada parsi) Original Spot in the 1920's. The Khada Parsi was then moved to Byculla Bridge where it now stands. That is Clare road on the right and Maulana Azad road on the left. This pic must have been taken from where Sarvis restaurant is now.

Variations of this pic may have been seen before. BYN 4258 - is observed here, was a tractor registered in the 'Fifties, somewhere in the Bombay Presidency.

The origin's of the BYN registration remain unclear, in all probability, it was Nashik, MH. The Pune Municipal Corporation had a similar BYN registered Mack Truck, in regular use upto the late 2000's. Perhaps she is still in use. Who knows?

We have to note that BYN is a private registration. All the specialized vehicles, apart from normal series were registered in such private series. This tractor is an example. The V8 Mack + trailer is another example.

Another example of note: MTJ is a well known Pune private series. :D BUT- MTJ 9000 happens to be a crane. Another example- of specialized vehicles being accommodated in the regular private series.

Karlos is most perceptive and precise. It does appear to be a 1947 and for the reason he mentions. The pontiac, # 5 would appear to be a 1946, the Mercury a fllip of the coin, I can't remember the difference between a 47 and 48, and the same for the Plymouth 47 or 48. You car nuts are great to read and I have the best references in America. You still seem to see more in those rare pictures than we do, over here, with an abundance on eBay Motors, Hemmings, and the like. Good show.

Thanks for the lovely pic, Deutscheafrikar!! Khada Parsi is such an iconic statue- and I wasn't aware of this bit of history- that it was located elsewhere earlier!

An Ambassador Mark-III used by the ex-CM of Tamil Nadu, M.G Ramachandran, who was a very influential actor as well.

The car, of course- looks lovely in the period colour. Serves as an excellent reference picture for various things- The number plate font, the period accessories et cetera. The car has a sunshade as well- an interesting accessory.

Note the cranking hole on the front bumper. Interesting to note that HM used these even upto the late 'Seventies. This fixture ceased with the introduction of the Mark - IV Ambassador- I guess.
