Nice find! Thanks for sharing - looking forward to more. What structure is in the back?

I remember them well. My cousin had a beautiful one I played with as a kid, I very vaguely remember rubber tyres and shiny chrome hubcaps. They were very nicely detailed, and heavy.

There is a second camper which looks similar to the Commer, right behind the black Ambassador

Nice find. Never seen that series of plates as well. I'd say the car to the right is a Chevy, and one of the left is an Overland.

Nice catch - there is one in Pune which came from a missionary in Aurangabad, completely original and preserved, down to the logo on the sides. Presently being restored. At least one more survives in Hyderabad, though I think with an engine change.

Hi Karl & Prem,

Going by the Caritas Badge on the Pune one, it may well have been one of those seen in the "Pope Pictues". Caritas were the Direct Charity agency run by the Vatican and is still active in India

Prem might recall there used to be grey coloured MB 6 Tonner Truck in Trivandrum, which I think is a 66 Model as well and may have come to India as part of this famine aid effort

Best Regards & Drive safe

Ram

I do remember Caritas - can't picture the truck after 40 foggy years.

Meanwhile, here is a FIAT truck - also part of the 1966 fleet. The sign on the far right truck may have said Caritas.
