Hard to tell exactly what it looks like -- but i think it still exists as part of Hanging Gardens.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Harit I think you dont pay too much attentions to surroundings adjoining to the Cafe Coffee Day and in between the Sculptor there is a Hospital and still operational. Not Saifee which is built now.

The shot from the last building would be way far out ! The hospital or the cafe Coffee day look more in proportion to the depth of the snap

Cheers

The encircled car is a Ponton. The encircled structure on the roof is a Mercedes star which used to rotate. I think it has been removed.
The skyline is the most striking, trees are seen and no concrete. The tank in the center of the sky line used to supply water for Malabar Hill. I think that is has been knocked down, in my opinion that was a Heritage structure

The photo may have been taked from the last building in that line, where there is that famous ice cream shop and a restaurant. The Hospital you are referring to may be Saifee which is on Marine Lines, not Marine Drive.

You are so right, did not pay much attention to that area. After that restaurant had shut down on the 1st floor, never even halted there. But, maybe you are right. Sunday morning would be a good time to check, no parking/halting issues.

This Landmaster looks very new, charming scene, maybe a proud owner posed his two prized possessions in one picture.
The number plate seems to be in Hindi, I can't read it. I have not seen pictures of cars with number plates in the Devanagari script in the 1960's.

See the last picture in this post. Same Star can be seen there. No concrete mess.

There's a similar one here that shows a wonderful view of Marine drive and Peddar Road.

As you can see, so many foreign cars are to be seen, particularly Mercs W115.

This photo was taken at Breach Candy, some place called Breach Candy Estate. In the corner just visible is an atractive car. I like that, all but karlos are invited to guess what this is

Cheers harit

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

The car looks American and more on the lines of a Duesenberg. The lights & the horn and quite distinctive to the Marque .Sedan with a very interesting Stance. Or is that a Packard 8 ?

Cheers

If only only "could be's" were the right answer

Could be an A-C-D, could be a Chrysler-Dodge-Plymouth,

but let me settle for FRANKLIN

These pictures were mounted, in quite a bad condition, but maybe have some archival value.
The title name pasted at the bottom of each picture is scanned separately.
Another thing, are the headlights on the Ford a "Deshi" product made for the replacement market in India? These are seen on many cars, and the rim looks quite crude.

After a good run as a TV series, they came out with a full length movie, from which these visuals are taken. Chimanrao's exploits with the car he purchases, are a treat to watch ! Thanks for the memories, Harit .
I just came to know the austin 7 featured in the movie Chimanrao Gundyabhau is still in pune and with a tbhp member. :-)

Though I have not be able to figure the car, I would like to guess that this is a British Car because it has park lights on the front fender. The absence of free standing lights indicate that this car should be prior to 1931.

If Harit concurs to this, then we can narrow down and hopefully guess the car!

Cheers

Yes most likely its AMERICAN and a high end brand. The picture seems to be from Hyderabad.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

Weddings very often have processions, they use horses, and convertible cars. This wedding seemed to be special, they used three desireable cars, all without a roof, either convertibles or cut-tops.
