If I am not mistaken, it is the Church of Our Lady of Divine Providence (popularly known as the Church of St. Cajetan) at Old Goa. It is a beautiful church with a fascinating history, It is not a popular visit among tourists as it is relatively overshadowed by the prominence of Bom Jesus Basilica and Se Cathedral.

It so happened that Pope Urban VIII has sent some Italian missionaries (Italian friars of the Order of Theatines) in 1639 to preach Christianity in the kingdom of Golconda (near Hyderabad).

However, they were not permitted to spread Christianity in Golconda and hence, they settled in Goa in 1640. As such, they built a church in 1655 after the style of famous St Peter's Basilica in Rome.

This pulling of a vehicle is either an army or a police tradition where a person who is retiring is sitting in a vehicle which is pulled by his colleagues.
I suspect this happened in Pune, not sure though.

These days school busses are a lot in the news, safety, fitness, taxes and what not all.
This bus must have stalled in front of a petrol pump, and the kids are helping push!!

This is what the interior of the Amby looked like.
No A/C, no power steering, no power windows, no.... and the list goes on. I too drove an Amby for many years, maybe I was a nut and for self inflicted punishment. But one reason I drove the Amby for so long is that no one else in the family wanted to use it, so I had a car all to myself.
Today it is common to have 3 to 4 cars in a family with each member having his own car. Earlier this was not always so.

Also interesting is the pic. I wonder if the lady really drove the car or was just posing for the pic. Incidentally, I remember reading in an article on the Amby in Autocar India many years ago (remember?) that the few women who drove Ambys in those days (as opposed to the Fiat and/or Herald) nicknamed the car as 'bust developer'...!! I dont of course know how true this was!

While you mention the location as Delhi, the second scoot is registered in Pune, around 66/67.

Incidentally, looking at the first (Delhi) pic,. I was surprised to note that scooterists in India actually wore gloves, that too back then!

Thanks for the appreciation.
Both the gentlemen are Army officers and hence their vehicles move along where they are transferred. The scooter was purchased and registered in Pune while the individual was undergoing higher studies in medicine during that time.

These are cantonement pics, where you will see vehicles with registration from all over India. These jobs are highly 'transferable'.

It would have been cold, and then one did wear gloves 'back then'.
Often we think of something as new, but it existed 'back then', like tubeless tyres were common in India in the 1960's.

This picture puzzles me, the print is reverse, but was this something to do with fancy dress or tribals? Somehow the picture looks artificial, the head gear, the stripes.

Is there any Kerala conection to this picture ?

The picture could be of a participant of the "Puli Kali" (Tiger/Leopard Play) of Kerala, which is performed in Central & North Kerala during Onam festival and in Southern Kerala during Muharrum as well.

The Car - It looks like a 1949 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe . It reminds me of a similar car that used to be in Trivandrum until late 1960s/early 1970s - with a family member who had imported it personally in 1950, from USA , where he had gone for his Engineering Degree.

In Trivandrum, there was the car that Ram quoted (black ?); as well as my aunt's (KLT-501). Dad says it was numbered after the Bar soap 501!

The car was almost exactly the same color - going by the B&W picture (powder blue + darker blue top).

Unfortunately the car was sold in Chennai in the late eighties. Maybe someone on the forum owns it now!

I was referring to the KLT 1234 - which was owned by G Chettan's dad - VPNN.

That was of a Brown/Ash-Beige shade.

I do remember 501 as well.

1234 also was sold to some one in Chennai - as a result of the first huge hike in petrol prices in India which was in the early 1970s where Petrol went up from around INR 1.25/litter to circa INR 3/litter in Trivandrum.
