Irony is present day Impala do not have a good reputation in N. America market.

25 year back in Nasik, opposite Circle theater, there use to be similar cars. In fact two of them. The building/ business was called Vadnagre.

Then came a Cambridge shirts shop there.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Does anyone remember the following cars in Pune-

A}MRW 8014. I'd jotted down this number in my Lumia, and the cell has conked off. No pics, as I still used a Nokia 1100, back in 2010.

However- I recall the number clearly, and hence had made a note of it in my newer cell as well.

B} MTJ 650- Again, had jotted this down somewhere. In all probability, a 1973 President. I used to think that this was @President's (), President(!).

BUT- His is- MTJ 648. Just two cars apart, and I'm not sure which one this is.

C} An MTP registered Willys CJ3 Hurricane. In a beigeish/sandy looking colour. I'd seen this one near Fergusson College, IIRC.

D} MAF 407. A white VW Golf, IIRC. But, I think it could've been an SS80, perhaps?

E} MGE 2166. This one is a mint red VW Golf, (or is it an older Jetta? I've always seen the front at a distance.)

Driven either by a chauffer, or an earphone wielding youngster, IIRC.

Saw MTJ 1957 in all her glory! Man- That thing is gleaming, or what!

I think I've got BML 9913 here. Online.

She was burnt down in a fire later on. I'm sure you know all this, no? Anyways, was worth the trouble.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Has anyone spotted MRF 529?
It was my maternal grandfather's Fiat.

He sold it to a Parsi gentleman staying in Lonavala somewhere around 1989. I remember seeing a photograph of it about 13-14 years back and IIRC it was green and white in color. Any info?

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Pune reminds me that the Principal of St Helena's School, Mrs Massey, used to regularly travel in a red Impala. Have been awestruck at the magnificent vehicle and the image of the sleek vehicle at the St. Helena's gates has stayed with me all these years.
Wonder where it is now, and if it even exists.
This was in the late 70's and early 80s.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Not exactly vintage, but we had a 1986/87 white Premier Padmini Deluxe-B model, with the registration number MVL 3852. We sold it off in ~1997 and it was seen for a few years in running condition. However, post 2000 we have not seen it, so I was just curios if anyone in Pune has seen this car. If possible, I am thinking of getting it again for my parents; but not sure whether it would be immediately possible.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Hi guys,

So was having a chat with my grandfather yesterday, and he was telling me about some of the vehicles he owned. I thought it would be great if I could get some more info on them, maybe pictures and stuff.

Two of the vehicles which he really liked were - A Plymouth Fury, which he owned in the early 70s. No idea of the registration but this was bought from a customs auction apparently. He sold it to an industrialist who had a house on Carmichael road.

The other vehicle which I think was his favourite was a Cadillac Deville, black coloured. He said this belonged to the Emir of Kuwait and he got this in an auction too. Again he owned this too, in the 70s and this was sold to a Parsi on Malabar Hill.

I know not much info, but will try and get registration numbers from my father.

Any info will be appreciated.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

I am looking for a 1951 SM1500 which belonged to my father from 1959 to 1965. The number initially was a MDY regn and subsequently was MYA9699 when dad bought it from Mr. N.S.Kombrabail of Malleswaram. Dad sold it to L Kadiah Silks, Sayaji Rao road Mysore in 65 and the registration number was MYM 765. This car was sold to some party probably in Kerala, I happened to see it sometime in Mysore, painted black, the front suspension had been altered from independent suspension to a beam axle.
I wish to either get this car oor a similar one.

Member FarPatel is looking for his father's 1950 brown low light Morris Minor. It was in Pune with them from the 60s to the 90s, registered MHJ 9920 (re-registered around 67/68 I guess).
