Thanks for the heads up, Karl. It's heartening to know that she's maintained well in her original splendour - no botox, no 2k!

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

This Dodge used to be a regular in the Statesman V&C Rallies at Kolkata. But it was not seen since the past few years if I am not mistaken.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Here are a couple of pictures that could have been posted in many existing threads, but I found this most pertinent - as the first question on seeing the Mercedes will be - "Where is it now?"

Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics-01.jpg

The pictures show an old rally in Bombay, probably in the 1970s. One picture shows a Hyderabad registered early Standard Tourer, and the other appears to be - yes - a 500 or 540K Mercedes!

Now this is not the Ravi Kumar/Jackie Shroff car as that has rumoured to have never run. It is not Chudasama's car, the lines are different.

My bet is that this is the Bhogilal car I've heard much about, that was bought from a palace dieselised. The gent who bought the car on Mr. Bhogilal's behalf told me he found the original engine seperately, and restored the mechanicals and put it back. The car was running, but had to be completed. This was many years ago.

I hope seniors who would have attended such events can shed light on which car this is. Faster? Harit?

The pictures were sent to me by a friend who found them online some time back, but cannot remember where.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Nice pictures .....the Merc could even be an 380 not necessarily a 500/540.

Can you read the plates on the original picture, surely they can be indicativ of where it came from.

The was a 380 in the Captain's collection too but missing an engine on GJY plates.

Karl Thanks, more than the real beauty pictures I am fascinated by the beautiful Mark II's hovering around. There is a Standard Herald (part cut off) which will attract Shyam very soon.

Ah, nice to see a Hyderabadi Standard! 'wish it'd remained here though.

And yes, as anjan said, personally (needless to mention! ), I feel it even nicer to see the other 'Standard' on the right of the pic...!

Incidentally, I wonder if the guy driving it knew his car's connection with the Tourer at all! Or would he just have seen it as some jalopy passing by? Reminds me of Keats in his poem 'Ode to a Grecian Urn'!

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Does anyone remember MMF 4860, a yellow super Beetle convertible? Used to belong to a friend from the 70s to the 90s - I'm keen to know where it is now.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

A previous owner of this V8 Ford is looking to know what happened to this car.

Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics-ford.jpg

If I remember right, a picture of this car was posted by Anjan having attended a Nagpur rally many years back.
