Re: Vintage & Classic car valuation

The 6 cylinder cars are generally not considered as muscle cars, though the 4 cylinder Verna sometimes is going by their original adverts..
As we have discussed in some thread before, India has too few genuine muscle cars. So an American V-8 engined two door coupe can be considered as a muscle car over here in India.

Cheers harit

The best advice I would give you is check what cars in an equivalent condition that this car is in are selling on sites like ebay-USA. then decide what your willing to pay above that cost to drive a similar car in India (assuming the owner is not asking for less). Best of luck

Thanks. It is a two door coupe. From what I can work out the owner is probably leaning towards twice the average US price for a similar car. It's based on how much he has spent buying and restoring. Doesn't sound too promising as a possible buy, particularly since I don't have deep pockets.

So I may have to jump on the well trodden path of digging up some rust bucket and making it fit my dream car.

How much should a Chevrolet Impala 1963 sedan cost?

Hi, I’m new this and would like some guidance on how much one should pay for a Chevy Impala 1963 model which seems to be in good condition (from picture print-outs that I saw). The body requires some minor bodywork and may have some rust. Overall it seems in decent condition and is painted red with a white top. Under the hood the original petrol engine is replaced with a diesel P4 Simpson engine which is supposed to be in running condition. The car is currently off the road and will need a battery and perhaps new tyres to get it going. Owner says that engine is in working condition. I am getting a mechanic to go look at the vehicle and get it running.

My question to the forum is, how much should one pay for this vehicle. I know you would prefer to see the pics before commenting, however, I don’t have any to upload.

Also, the car was identified through a broker. How much do brokers charge these days and what is reasonable compensation?

Thanks
Shireesh

Fiat 1500

This ad has been doing rounds on T-BHP and many other places since almost 2 years...

http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...infarina.html/

What a joke, this particular car , in its condition for that digit figures for selling

I have actually spoken to this dealer in many occasions, He's used to quoting insane prices for cars he has.

What should be the actual price one can pay for this car....?

This guys name is Nikesh and he is based in Mysore.I am not sure whether he is a dealer.was under the impression that he buys cars at reasonable prices ,''restores'' them and then puts it for sale quoting unreasonable prices.of course many others are also doing the same thing.
The jadavpur guy is a pucca dealer who claims to have about 60 cars for sale

Not surprisingly he lists the same fiat 1500 . But then the number is seems to be of karnataka. May be some one from West Bengal can confirm.

What do you want confirmation on ? Cars that were being offered for sale from the past 3 years have not been removed from the list. If you see he says there is MG for sale in that web page in the last line after the details of all the cars, the gentleman doesn't even know the owner and when he was asked to show the car then he said not for sale or he escalates the price so much that one says that they would rather not buy it. He probably has only sold 3 cars till date. He was also once a team bhpian.

i wish to share this info: a single owner 1981 model mark IV petrol , white colour "CAB- xxxx" series registered , lovingly maintained ambassador was sold 2 days ago for just Rs 22,000/= at sadashivanagar bangalore! The owner even completed fitness certificate formalities thru an agent spending Rs 5000/= , and purchased a new battery for Rs 3000/= at his own expenses , before selling the car. alas, i missed being the buyer of this lady by just a day!

Re: Vintage & Classic car valuation

Even if she would have sold it to a scrap dealer she would have got more money, the agent might have had a good comm in between

Sorry for going a bit here but if you refer to the above post by vinay kamath, he'd mentioned the owner being a "HE", not "SHE"!

Hi,

I dont think 6L is reasonable price for an austin cambridge. I have seen a couple of Ads asking for 1-1.5L for austin cambridges.
