@anjaan - Thanks for sharing those valuable materials with us.

@super select - There was no Standard UK at that time(1985) . The Standard Company ceased to exist in 1960s after the takeover by Leyland motors. The Leyland Motors withdrew Standard brand in 1960s as it felt it was less marketable than Triumph.

Regarding, Standard 2000 , it was an outdated by the time it was introduced in India being replaced By Rover 800 by 1986.The standard 2000 used the outdated engine because of Government Policy at that time of complete indigenisation of cars , which ruled out using engines from Rover group.

For more information on Standard 2000, there is excellent thread started by V12 about standard 2000-The links to this thread is given below

Thanks Frozenin Time.

I was not aware that GM has now shut down Pontiac. They had shut down Oldsmobile a few years ago. Way to go for GM, they nearly gave up Opel, and have lost a part of their soul in China, and Mr. Obama wonders why there are less jobs in USA, maybe some of their corporations need better management. GM better buck up, they need some inspiration, or they may slide further. After Pontiac, whom will they axe next?

I have a doubt whether that Ford Anglia is a chop top. I think it is not, there are similar cars in India.

Is that Studebaker still alive?

Another small mention on the Heritage Museum coming up in Gurgaon.
With a convention center it should attract more crowds.

Recently in Goa I came across this newspaper, O Heraldo of 23rd December 2010. They have a column "100 Years Ago". Just see item no 2. They did not do their work properly, Goa has lost so much of its heritage, including automobilia (also a very collectable item:Cheering:). This lamenting was 100 years ago!

Recently Pandit Bhimsen Joshi passed away. What a loss, that voice, specially when heard live was unforgettable.
He loved cars, many knew of his Mercedes, but apparently he also had a Buick Super.

Also supposed to have had dodge kingsway, which he used to drive very fast on the twisty roads of the western ghats.

This snippet appeared in People Magazine recently, showing veteran actor A K Hangal standing next to a Beetle, which is probably his own (had read earlier that he has/had one). Wish him a speedy recovery,.
