Actually we do not need any antifreeze for Indian climate. On my industrial engines I use supplimentary coolant additive which is basically a corrosion inhibitor.

Re: Vintage & Classic car parts info

To me it's the temperature and corrosion resistant factors that had me hooked.
Minus 40 to 180 degrees covers most inhabited areas of the planet where we would run the vehicles.

I'm sure Jay Leno wouldn't be using it for 16 years and have a video on their website unless it really worked, even in balmy California. It could be a paid endorsement, but at the moment Jay Leno is the bigger brand to lose if the product is not up to the mark.

They have also spoken of the trucking industry and the higher temperatures of Diesel engines taking advantage of the temperature range.

Anyway, have contacted the Indian distributor for a pack of the Prep fluid and Coolant, as soon as I figure out how many litres go into my car.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I do have a Fiat Elegant, but beyond that I'm just a novice.

So when you say mirror and handles for 1963 Fiat, unlike the veterans here, no image comes to my mind!

BUT I can certainly ask around! And that I will do...

Re: Vintage & Classic car parts info

Hi

A friend of mine needs the following parts:

A) For his 1973 Jawa
i) Speedometer
ii) Rear foot-rests

B) For his 1954 Fiat (Millicento?)
i) Speedometer
ii) Rear monogram
iii) All 4 hub-caps
iv) Side 'patti'

Can anyone help? I could collect these parts on his behalf in Mumbai. Thanks a lot!

Btw, can anyone suggest a place in Mumbai which could help me restore my 1957 Fiat Elegant?

Thanks a tonne!

I was interested in this because in Australia the temperature can vary to a large degree. But after reading through it and discussing the formulation with a chemist friend,it's just a concentrated corrosion inhibitor and it 's not a very good product. A classic car owner is best advised to use corrosion inhibitor and every 18 months to two years poke a test strip into the coolant to determine the Ph level .If the coolant is OK the test strip will indicate a certain color.
All modern auto manufacturers supply these strips to their dealer workshops so they should be easy to find in India. I use Wurth test strips . Because i almost exclusivley work on mercedes Benz ,and older ones at that it is important that I use the correct stuff So I tend to use Mercedes Own additives to protect the alloy parts. A cheap effective method though is to add 250Mls of soluable oil to the water. Works great for engines that dont get driven very much.

I can't say if this clock is from a Merc. The makers logo (VDO) is not visible and the needle pointer's style is not like a Merc's but the thin circular lines on the black part of the dial are similar. Maybe for a VW?

Please keep me informed. I need a W110 front windshield too. Perhaps we could import together and share the costs.
