But didn't knew whole ministries were into it too.

Wonder where all those Toyotas (Crowns?) went to. Must have been a steal for the auction bidders at that time.
Perfectly maintained foreign cars though heavily ran cars.
Many of the Mercedes was later given to the tourism department.Till sometime ago one 200D was there in Tourism guest house cochin. Most of them later went to SILK(Steel industrials kerala ) to be scrapped.
The Toyotas were Corollas and Coronas and were auctioned in the nineties.
The KSEB also had 2-3 Toyotas

Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe from a 1968 Malayalam movie - Hotel High Range on YouTube.

Any info about this car, travancore and r_nairtvm? Remember your posts about two other cars in TVM

I believe the car is actually a 1951 model.

Key differences are an elongated horizontal parking lamp at the front. The 1950 had higher mounted bullet lamps.

At the rear, the tail lamps were inset to the fender in 1950, with a chrome strip running along the entire top of the fender - all the way to the bumper.

On the 1951 model, the tail lamps were moved outboard to the rear of the fender; and the chrome strip where available, stopped at the lamp.

The first I have seen KLT-17. The car we had was KLT-501, after the bar soap. Sold in Chennai mid 1980's.

Thanks a lot ajay99 and travancore for your inputs. The car is 1951 model (registered towards the end of 1955) as per the Kerala MVD website records

Re: Classics of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar

Few classics from Visham, a 1981 Malayalam movie.
Need all your help with identification

1) I could spot a railway station lookalike signboard that read Cherthala Bypass (or Sherthalai as it was called back then) where the truck was parked. Belongs to KSEB?

2) Bedford truck (?), I believe.

Sir,
Not only does it very much exist, but also its annual certificate of fitness was done only last Friday
But I think the ownership has changed from KSEB to some enterprise in Cochin

Re: Classics of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar

This 1938 Renault Celtaquatre has been recently restored. This car has been with one family since new and was amongst the first sedans in Trivandrum

Thanks KPS.

I am happy to see the car in this form. I recently saw the shed where this was stored empty and was hoping that Dr Ramachandran would have handed her over to a worthy successor. It would appear that he has

Putting couple of pictures of it from 1987 (I had posted this previously in a thread) to put the level of resto in perspective.

Ajay you are correct. I had taken these in the Vintage Rally along with the Trivandrum Flowershow of 1990.

I am glad this has been restored by the good Doctor himself.
