Do you have a clearer snap of the bus ?

How many such were used, would you have any information. Can some one throw some light on this as there is someone doing research in regards to transport buses

Cheers

I dont have a clear snap of the bus.
60 comer chassis was ordered by TRAVANCORE in 1937 and 1n1938, a fleet of 33 buses were built and put into service.Probably the remaining would also have joined the fleet later.

Can someone please help identify this Travancore car ?

Very unique (ugly) windshield header and curved roof and sill may be clues.

Picture was taken in 1946, but the car seems to be of a pre-war vintage.

This mystery Travancore car is almost certainly a Lincoln K Limousine by Willoughby from 1937-1938.

I have attached some recent pictures for comparison. The only difference seems to be the suicide front doors on the Travancore car.

My uncle just mentioned the Travancore Lincoln was Cream with Red Fenders - so that seems to match the (B&W) picture!

The second Travancore Lincoln (from descriptions) was in all probability a Dietrich Convertible Sedan of approximately the same vintage.

@ foby.sebastian,

hi., Any vintage shows coming up for this Independence day? I hope you would have the info for sure. Missed one of past Republic day, didn't knew about it then.

cheers,

My uncle, aunt and their daughter pose before their brand new Mark II Ambassador. Date unknown. You can clearly see the temporary registration plate

Another pic of the brand new Amby my uncle bought during 1960s. What a proud man he must have been! Unlike today, owning cars were nit that easy then. Look at the temperory regn plate of the time

MDU is Madurai. With respect to the model, the answer is relatively simple. The car is 1930-31 Chevrolet Deluxe Sport Roadster, lovely model.

Let me explain how to identify
  1. The car is has two doors hence it is a coupe.
  2. It has side mounted spare wheels, hence inferred as a Deluxe or Master
  3. This has a convertible roof hence it is a Sport. Had the car a fixed roof then it is a Roadster. Hence this body style is a called a Sportster or a Sport Roadster
  4. Coming to the year, the headlights will give the clue. In Chevy till 1932 the headlights were not free standing. The 1930-31 had one bar connecting the two fender. The 1932 had two bars and 1933 had no bars connecting the fenders. Headlights were free standing in most cars by 1932-33. (Plymouth was free standing by 1932). This is explained in pictures below

Hope this helps

lets drool the KLV-1 Oldsmobile the palace car !

It was in october 2012 that foby had posted the above photo of the LHD OLDSMOBILE bearing a number plate KLV-1.On that ocassion itself ,many of us Tbhpians had categorically stated that it was a spoof and KLV-1 was neither a palace car nor and OLDSMOBILE. Now the ''mystery'' has been cleared. The car was used for a movie shooting in which it plays the palace car of the "THIRUVITHANCODE MAHARAJAH"'.The number plate was used just for shooting purpose.Shooting location is inside FORT area of Trivandrum city

Now the matter to be known is what is the genuine registration mark of this car? The other palace car in the same movie is a black ponton which is a regular in many adfilms. But this car does not belong to the person who owns the ponton.
Anyone who has connection with Production controllers in Trivandrum area may be able to find it out easily.

Ajay, good show to have cleared this up. I am sure you will trace the Olds as well.

The oldsmobile shown in the posts above looks like a 1964/1965 Cutlass/442 hardtop sedan
