Nostalgic. It would be fine to document the evolution of KSRTC all through the years. R420 could be an early 1970 model.

Yes ,this could be from the early 1970's because till then majority of the KSRTC buses were the original BENZ and leyland ones.
The last of the lot got auctioned in early 80's ,one of them (KRA-35) with full originality served as a school bus till 2010 ,but unfortunately got scrapped:Frustrati

Is that @ Trivandrum ? Am not so pretty sure about the current location of this VW

Yes. Does any one remember two decked (not a double decker) bus which was with KSRTC. It was called a one and a half decker by local people. I searched in vain to locate any photo of this typical decker.

Thrissur KSRTC bus stand in late fiftiees. Those triangular roof above the current garage is still there !

Bus being ferried to Vypin Island via cherai. Vypin Island always remained cut off from the rest of Kerala due to its location. The first bridge, Cherai bridge came up only in 1972. Then in 2004, it was connected to Ernakulam by Gosree bridge.

The very first KSRTC bus was introduced sometime in the 1950's to Vypin. The bus operated Cherai-Aluva, via Parur. The bus would be loaded in a changadam and transported across the lake at Cherai. The arrangement was a huge relief to Vypinites. The service was soon extented to Vypin as Vypin-Aluva. The bus in the picture maybe that bus.

A Bandh / hartal @ Trivandrum , Probably at Thampanoor

I see from right two Ford trucks, an Austin truck and then a row that appears to be International's.

Cheers harit

The blue VW van put here by sebastiaan is almost same as this one http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/post-w...ml#post1943075

Old ERNAKULAM Jetty KSRTC bustand. That was an awsome place to Fan Boats and buses.

Kerala had Pontiac's too:thumbs up
