Now that's a good looking car in nice 2 tone colours and a well matched hood to go with. Love this style of Merc's. Wish I had one

I saw this car at the race course in December. At that time too there was a mini super cars event going on, I was there with an aero modeller

These W116s were according to me the best looking S classes ever produced. This one with a 350SE is a V8, sharing its engine and internals with the SL350. Great looking car and it looks better in this shade than the original Golden.

I have a similar example in extensive restoration for a few years now.

If the plate says it is a W115then maybe it was a 220 Petrol. If it was a six cyl, it would be a W114. Sadly many such W115 ans 114s were converted to diesel from their original engines around the mid 70's and 80's.

I would get the upholstery done as per a W115. This design does not suit this car. Also try and get the original Black or white Bakelite steering wheel which was changed to this padded one in around 1974, when the Quarter Glass disappeared.

Re the overriders, i dont remember they being offered, imho but i may be wrong.

Agree with V16 these W116 Mercs were the best looking cars of the S Class ever, such a strong and timeless shape.

I think these cars look their best in midnight blue and black.

Would love to lay my hands on a 450SE or better still a 450 SEL 6.9

The W126 was also a handsome car
