Indeed, I had seen that car in the workshop of Mr. Sharma in the Okhla Industrial area. Not very sure if it belonged to him though. The Chennai car is Mumbai registered and spent a lot of time in Bangaluru.

BTW, I always felt that Mercedes W114 and W115 somehow also looked different, maybe a flatter grill?

I remember seeing one of those, in silver for sale in Auto India, sometime around 1998 or so. The twin headlight variety. Not sure about the location though. IIRC, the same seller had an Airstream caravan for sale too.

As far as I know it was only the six cylinder engine, the 230, later 230.6, 250 and 280 and 280E. The flatter grill came with the 2nd generation sometime post 1973 so if you look at a 1975 W 114/5 it would have a shallower and flatter grill than the older generation. The only external difference that I know was that the 280 models had a rear bumper extending all the way to the rear wheel, and twin exhaust pipes.

kasli, yes thats a Lancia Flaminia Touring 3C, car is now reportedly in either Hong Kong or France.

sammyaulakh, so a 220 then, youve got pretty far with it, a few minor issues sorted and you have a great car.

Yes, I believe it was in chennai. I remember the photo though, it had yellowed twin headlights, and was advertised as needing work, even then. Sad to know that it has not yet been rescued.Dooes anyone have any pix of the said car?

Delhi car is Lancia Flavia Vignale Convertible not Flaminia.

I seem to remember seeing the tail-light of the Flaminia instead of the Flavia, or Fulvia for that matter, but you maybe correct, while my recollection is awry.

Is there any update on the Shroff Mercedes 540K ? I was reading an article in Sports & Exotic cars about a 540K that was at the Pebble Beach this year.

They mentioned that it was one of six 540K roadsters that had the spare wheel stored in a recess in the boday instead of being stowed on top of the body.

If I am correct the Shroff 540K aslo has a wheel well on the rear for the spare so that should make it quiet a rare car.

And if abyone has pics of the Bhogilal 540K please share

Correct the 540 k is recessed rear wheel in the boot. The 540 k of SHROFF is now ex SHROFF . Currently in a industrial stable. Mr Bhogilal car also bears a rare body style

Bhogilal's car is a standard open tourer, if I remember correctly it has a sedate Sindelfingen body, not one of these stylish roadsters. But still, it is a 540K. Getting a photo is difficult for me.

Spotted these sad 126's and a 123 recently. The white 126 and the maroon 123 are good only as parts cars.

The covered up car is a 500SEL. The sunroof is partly open, under the tarpaulin cover.

Inquired if its for sale, and as expected, the answer was no. The security guard claims it belongs to a 'collector'. Wonder what sort of a collector would keep his cars like this.
