Thanks for the lovely pictures. It is a Mercedes Mannheim, 1928.
Shown at Cartier, 2013....with the GCB registration visible :)
I'm on the hunt for (judging by other people's efforts, the rather elusive) W111/W112 in good condition anywhere in India. Online classifieds have been pretty fruitless so far. Does anyone know of any with owners who can be convinced?
Wow it's amazing that a personal collection made it to the official home page of Mercedes Benz India. Deserves it.
I believe they should also add in collections / articles on the
Subhash Sanas collection and our very own
Gogi too :)
Let us not forget the Goenka Collection, which includes some of the finest examples of this amazing car.:).
Mercedes Benz cars have always been popular in India and it is great to see so many survive
Spotted near Lalbagh, Bangalore
Might not be how it came out from the factory,
But i love it
Another one left to rot in Bandra. Pic sent by a friend.
:OT As usual was going through car videos in Youtube, when I again bumped into "Motomobi" channel. Last time I saw it was for the Innova scoop they did before the car was launched.
Came across E class and S class videos, and was pleasantly surprised by the nicknames given to each model in the Indonesian market.

The Ponton W120 E class and W180 S class were both called as
Merci Kentang, meaning "
Potato"
The Fintail W110 and W111 were called as "
Batman"
The W115 E class was known as "
Merci Mini" - mini Mercedes
The evergreen W123 is known as "
Merci Tiger"
The W124 was known as
Boxer.
The unloved W210 was known by "
New Eyes" for obvious reasons.
Coming to Sonderklasse , the W108 was known as the "
Merci Buffalo" as they felt the size was big and bulbous.
The W116 was called as "
Merci Barong"
And this is what a Barong looks like
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barong_(mythology)
The legend W126 was known by the apt name: "
Merci Eagle"
Guess by the late 90s they stopped the practice of naming each model, maybe cause of wider options or new luxury models. Or simply cause the new cars looked generic(?) or without character(?).
Got what I was looking for a few months. She's a 1984 190e (w201) - 1.8 Petrol, automatic. Still drives really well with 33K miles on her.
Have started working on her and should be done soon.
Looking for 16" or 17" period monoblocks and would be great if anyone has them for sale in India.
