What a gem, thanks for sharing.

The location is Marine Drive Bombay, the building still stands, albeit not so pretty. I think at the corner of this same building was the Jaguar showroom of Garwares (Chowpatty Chambers?) Many people have mentioned how they used to see the star proudly perched atop.

I wonder if this car is accounted for. Incidentally there is a 300S with a registration number just 1 digit away, maybe they were company/publicity cars or the same owner.

Can anyone identify the gent in the passenger seat?

The photo was in a 1958 Mercedes Benz magazine (Mercedes-Benz im aller Welt). They always had quite a lot of photos of all the MB products from all over the world. Carefully staged usually so probably taken by the dealerships. Tata featured pretty regularly then. This looks very staged to me with the Ponton beside it and the child, etc.
