I got the entire Windshield wiper assembly from Egypt ( found it on Ebay actually) was NOS stock.

Recently some 15-18 cars have moved to Mysore in a new private collection, the gentlemen has bought an old heritage property and is now building up a vintage classic car collection to go with it,some of the cars have gone from Delhi, Kolkatta and Jaipur.

We owned a W110 190 till some years ago. The car is up for sale again.
Needs MAJOR restoration work. Engine still in working condition. Body panels rusted.

I have zero experience in restoration. The car has sentimental value.

Please advise whether we should buy it back and who would be able to help us restore it. Some lights and rear windshield are missing. Will post photos soon

The Mercedes Benz Fintails are pretty easy cars to restore.

Spotted this under-restoration Mercedes Benz Fintail today, in a Poona suburb-

As is evident, it is the facelifted version, built 1963 onwards.

(Ignore my shadow, and the FIAT Grande Punto in front)

Note the peculiar angle of the rear wheel rims. Engineering at its very best- the De Dion rear suspension is still at work, after nearly five decades.

The engine bay was painted quite nicely. The job could have been done in a better manner, of course.

Engine was taken off- and yes, the vehicle identification plates (reading Daimler Benz Aktiengesselschaft ) were missing.

I did manage to take a poke at the rear axle. The De Dion rear suspension was very much present

I couldn't help thinking- THIS is how a car should be. Excellent quality; very well built, abuse friendly, bulletproof mechanicals. Trusty. Lovely to look at. Classy. Reliable. And yeah- the chassis plate must read out - Made in Germany.

A Merc is a Merc. 'Nuff said.

Here is an interesting car. The original photo seems to have appeared in Jan Melin's magnum opus on supercharged M-B, so I am thinking there should be some validity to it.

The car however seems to be LHD, which is a bit of a problem. Discussing with Prithvi, it seems the car may never have been delivered to Raja Tagore, based on the date (1938).

It also seems to have been modelled in 1/43 scale by EMC (courtesy: miniwerks.com).

Adil Jal Darukhanawala published a book titled "Mercedes-Benz Winning". The major part of the book covers Mercedes-Benz motor sports activities. However there is a latter part which covers Mercede-Benz in India, and we see that there was a presence of Benz in the early years in India. There are some never seen before photographs seen in the book too.
The launch was at Shaman Motors on 12th of March, attended by a gathering which included classic car enthusiasts.
